They changed it because pieces were becoming fairly common and it was almost going to be worth it to convert a map. They're TNT, nothing in their game is actually allowed to have a purpose.

I wouldn't go that far. They're just trying to make it to reward people good at games, rather than people who get lucky (which is a shame, as I fall into the latter category...) Stil, it coulda been done in other ways... -sighs-

i dont know if this was posted before, and i'm sorry if i'm being rude, but can anyone tell me why i cant get 2 pieces anymore. i'm supposed to get them for for being in the top rankings and high score but they only reward me the high score one. this is getting really irritating and is wasting my time. can anyone help?

I highly doubt that motive, or else they'd still allow a person to get two pieces in an hour.

They changed that about a week ago I think. Like with all the changes, there hasn't been an official announcement or explanation.

WHAT?!!?
I didn't know that! Now I can't earn 2 pieces at once... that sucks. It's gonna take a long time for me to finish my Neopia Central map. :(

TNT should really announce the changes.

They did it to try to make it more "fair" for everyone, I think. But if you ask me, if someone manages to get the highest score and be in the top people (especially with the new "rating higher than 0" and "3 scores sent" rules), they deserve two pieces.

Good news, though: now some of the longer games require only 1 score sent per hour instead of 3 (Faerie Bubbles, for example). It now says: "Players in the top 3 places listed below win a picture piece for their World Challenge Gallery! Requirement: minimum of 1 scores sent and a Rating greater than 0 and a minimum of 5 players required in order to win prizes." And now that people with a -1 rating are counting as competitors again, the requirements aren't too hard to meet.

At least for Mootix Drop (that's the only WC I play) there appears to be a score minimum for submitting... Saw that last night, though all I know for MD is that it's more than 160.

The minimum score appears to vary. I think it's tied in with the current high score for the hour, like 10% or so of the high score for the hour, I'd say.

The highest score for the hour neomail now comes with this tidbit:

Note: no neopoints or additional picture pieces for placing in a top position for the hour.

Which stinks, as you deserve two pieces (or at least the measly amount of NP!) if you're capable of getting the highest score AND submitting 3 good scores for some of the longer games. *shrugs*

Erm, it looks to me like all the changes are in bright red on the world challenge game page. The ability to win 2 pieces in an hour, one piece from the high score and one piece from placing, was never officially declared on the world challenge game page. That change to 1 piece an hour regardless is/was mentioned in the FAQ.

LOL! You do get neopoints for the high score. Details, details. They keep changing stuff, so maybe they'll fix that, too.

You do? I guess I never noticed :P

EDIT: Oh, yes. I got like 400np for high score of the hour...

Hmmm... I just realized something. It seems that Neopets doesn't burn the entry fee NP when an hour doesn't have enough participants. I'm almost positive that the NP prize is transferred over to the next hour's pot. That would explain the occasional 2500 NP pot for Mootix Drop when you're averaging 5 people an hour... You still have to pay twice though, it seems.

Yes I can confirm this. If not one person earns a NP prize, then the pot is carried over. Hence why late at night, some of the pots get rather large.
