Wow, level 63! The highest level out of all my pets is 14, the rest are around 7ish.. this is going to take some patience.. I need that avvie!

I'm really confused as to the duration of time you have to wait inbetween catches, I'm usually only able to do it once a day (when I'm online, anyway). I could do it three times a day when I first started with this, but they most likely changed that. Blah.

ooohhh I just got one of those books Trick mentioned "on Gelert Pond" and a Level up to 34.

The book isnt in the wiz and is unbuyable on the TP... YAY

my pet is level 26 and his fishing sucks, the only non plant thing he has gotten was a small giant squid at lv 25

Wasnt the speculation that the Large Giant Squid was the item that gave the avvy?

Anyone have any more info on this impossible avatar, or know anyone who has it?

I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but maybe you have to catch a Titanic Squid with a Usul?

Oh I do hope it's not with an usul - I don't have one as a pet and don't have room for another!

This fishing thing is frustrating. There are times when I know it's been at least 24 hours since my pets fished, yet I get that Be Patient with the crying pet page. My highest level pet so far is 31. I'm getting alot of catching something (junk) but no level!

I am weary of boots, sneakers, tin cans, etc. I do like when my pets catch fish or squid - all 4 of mine like fish

We have a Usul, but she doesnt seem to be the best fisherman. Our Skeith ( Lab pet) seems to catch the most and get the most level ups. Im wondering if some pets are more fortunate than others when it comes to how often they can fish. My Wocky seems to always be crying and told to wait while the Skeith gets to go twice as often.

Level ups are weird too, sometimes I can get 2 in one day, then none for 3 days. I cant find any pattern whatsoever.

I can't see any pattern, either. My pets are levels 40, 41, 43 and 43. I try fishing sometimes every six hours, sometimes eight, sometimes 12. Even after 12 hours, sometimes one or more of my pets will told to be patient. Sometimes after six hours they can all fish. For a while my lupe was the best fisherman (he was at least 3 points ahead of everyone else), but now he's the worst and my kougra and cybunny are tied. The "rarest" things I've caught are landfish and waterlogged book.

And yeah, the avatar is the Titanic Giant Squid... so at least Large Giant Squid is getting closer!

I haven't had much of any luck with the game. I got a small giant squid once, but that was the only thing I've been able to catch besides the junk items and basic fish.

Also it seems my pets can only fish once every day or every 2 days.

It may even be every 3 days between level-ups.

I guess neopets has a thing against my pets?

Today I may have had a chance. My grral and my red ruki seem to be the best. Both are at level 30. My grral turned level 30 today, and my ruki nothing except a junk item.

I hoped I would have a chance to fish with my other two pets, but the site slowed down to the point of freezing up my computer, so I won't be coming back for a while.

Perhaps whether or not we catch something or get a level up doesn't have as much to do with how long we wait, as simply when we fish.

For example:
We know there is a wait time. But instead of it being either random or set (say six hours for example), what if the neopian day is divided up into blocks of time? Say, you can fish once between 12am and 6am, once between 6am and 12pm, 12pm and 6pm, etc. I doubt very much that it would be that regular, but it's just an example.

Another thought I had was that it might have something to do with the length of our pet's names. Similar to the way the length of a pet's name regulates which petpets can attach or books can be read. (Though I don't think this applies, since I have two pets with the same number of letters in their name, and having just fished them one got a level up and the other got 'be patient'.) So maybe it has something to do with which letter the pet's name starts with?

There's gotta be a method to it. I can't believe it's all just random.

Wow... I've been very lax with my fishing...my highest is like, level 15 or 16... ^^;

Since at the moment I only do the dailies (pretty much) on Neopets, that's the way it goes. I keep forgetting to fish.

Green Lupe #1=Blandfish+1 level
Purple Lupe=Old Fishing Pole
Grey Lupe=Rotting Driftwood + 1 level
Green Lupe#2=Giant green kelp

I was thinking, maybe you get the avatar when your pet is at a certain fishing level. Like 100 or 500 or 1000?? It could be.
