I clicked the link earlier this morning before coming to PPT or anything. Pity that I risk getting warned, suspended, frozen, etc but I refuse to worry. Yeah, I don't think I'd like to lose my account but it gradually trying to get rid of my Neopets addiction anyways, getting frozen would just be a forced cold-turkey. Other than that, the sheer amount of people who have clicked the link (either on purpose or by accident without understanding what was going on) would probably make freezing everyone who clicked the link almost impossible (I'd have thought it would be a large percentage of Neopias population).

There goes the real $$$ into the drain.The best bet is to remove the avie from the list.

Exactly! And having an avatar removed isn't something to panic about! People just need to calm down a little and look at everything objectively before freaking out

If you read my previous message on the previous page,you'd have noticed that someone started such vicious rumor because many people got the avie WITHOUT paying.

I could see the rumour having started eventually even if it hadn't been for malicious purposes. The second something like this happens some people are going to be cautious and scared and sometimes will unintentionally create mass hysteria by just mentioning the fact that they are unsure.

Whoever started the rumor and later on the chaos,should be iced.This is creating unnecessary stress to other users

Agreed although with the domino effect of it all, it may be hard to tell who was genuinely nervous and who was causing trouble aside from the very first people to start the hysteria.

I'm not worrying over this because I clicked the link yesterday about an hour after it was found so what's done is done. I doubt they are going to freeze anyone or take away the avie since so many people have it by now and no one knew that you had to buy food from Kelp when the link first came out. Personally though, I agree with whoever said that the talk of freezing was more then likely a rumor started by people who had paid 40k+ to get the avie and were mad that other people got it for free.

If you're not frozen,that means some meanie started a rumor because he/she paid for the avie man,the person should get a life out there!

I don't think anyone is going to get frozen over this.

First off, it is Neopets' fault for not putting a safeguard in the link. There should have been some type of error message popping up when you clicked on it, like there is if you try to do a freebie more than once. An "Oops, you forgot to make a reservation." Some computer tech person forgot to put something like that into place and it is his/her fault, not ours.

Second, too many people have clicked the link. It would be corporate suicide for Neopets to freeze people over this. Think of just how many people would NOT be able to see all of the immersive advertising and product endorsement and banner ads. It would not be a prudent move for them to do--from a business standpoint.

Finally, something very similar to this happened before and they did not freeze people. During the last war, people were using the backspace key somehow to get higher scores. It was a thing that TNT should have anticipated and done some coding to prevent. TNT found out about it, fixed the problem with the backspace key, and reset everyone's scores. TNT did not freeze people over this.

So, I am not worried about this--if they take the av away, well then, they take the av away. It is only an avatar. And, if I do get frozen for this, perhaps it is time for me to kick the Neo habit and go cold-turkey like Medusa mentioned.
