Azzie, I can't say I completely understand, since I've been wondering why I'm still on the game, when there are other places I can play. I realized one day that it's because of this wonderful site that I haven't just up and quit in a fit of "I'm sick of this." Because I'd have to give up this place too, in order to give up neopets completely.

Other things that are equally addicting for me
City of Heroine (City of Heroes - Like Everquest is Evercrack ;) )
My mush, Fallen Leaves - Where I am staff and get to RP.
And one non-computer thing.. ANIME!!!!

Amazing what one can come up with when one is given a cardboard box and a roll of duct-tape!

I'm glad that you're finding strength enough to leave. That's really going to be good for you.

Earning Neopeoints is not as fun as most of the other things you can do. Neomailing, reading the NT, and just exploring makes the site what it was created for, fun!

Smart idea. I hope you have a better life outside of Neopets. I too, might leave Neopets and the PPT Forums.

now if i could only find those poor deserving people amongst all the 'i want' posts

If you want to find deserving people, just visit some random lookups -- the owner of a shop/gallery you thought was cool, or a good writer from the Neopian Times, or something like that -- and donate something to them. Like, you could donate a paintbrush to someone with a pb gallery, or a plushie to someone with a plushie gallery. And sometimes people have little "wishlists" or goal lists in their lookups with things they want, and you could surprise them and send one.

I think it's nice of you to send people things.

I think the whole game is rather pointless if you think about it that way. But then again it's just a game and somtimes people let it go to far. I mean, no one really cares if you have 30 trophies. It doesn't make you a better person, it won't get you anywhere in life... just all seems rather pointless to spend hours and hours on neopets.

I once was asked why I spent money to play a game in the arcade, the same one that I had at home. My response was, "Because of the people I can meet."

Unfortunately Neopets has become a hostile place for those of us who just want to have some hassle-free fun, meet people who share the same interest and maybe share experiences. The Neoboards are now full of report happy snots, the neomails are strictly filtered, and well, the games are glitchy as is a good portion of the code, which seems to suffer from technican-itis and only gets really bad when the support staff take a day or two off.

If all of this bothers you, yes, it's time to pack up the bags and call it quits, because frankly, it won't get much better until the site does one of two things.. go to pay-to-play or listen to the players. Which do you think will come first?

I quit a little while ago when the Pant Devil stole my only valuable item, but then came back after I realized Neo was really the only thing that kept me on the internet nowadays. The boards I used to visit have long since died, so if I don't have Neo, I'd waste my free time watching cartoons or something. An interactive game like this is definitely more worth my time than Spongebob Squarepants (no offense to his fans). Now I just play for the freebees and maybe 2 games a day. I think you should stay on Neo, but just in moderation... don't focus on the money.

I know how you feel. A year or two ago, I got so fed up with Neopets. It wasn't that I didn't like it anymore or got frustrated with playing it. I hated the fact that while I was at school I was thinking about what I could be doing on Neopets if I was home, and while I was doing homework, my mind was telling me 'the sooner you finish, the sooner you can get on neopets.' So I stopped logging on. A couple of months later I got back on and now it isn't as bad. I don't think about getting on neopets all the time, and Neopets isn't the first place I go online anymore.
