April 27 News - New Site Layout (Revamp to 1024x768)

First of all, I'd like to give TNT a huge hug for not forcing a hideous Royalgirl Draik redraw on me, and for removing the Mallow Grundo's arms (and not forcing that redraw on me either, although it does look better than it did.)


Unfortunately, I'd like to cry for my new weird looking Halloween Shoyru.

I dont understand why it has two tridents. I can get used to the huge face, but even when I try to customize and remove one of the tridents, they both vanish. If they fix that, most of my complaints over that particular redraw will be gone.

As for the layout itself...way way too cluttered. I dont want my pet popping up on every page, and Ive always hated sites that use the 'module' kind of style. Thats why I never browsed the site in the Premium thing back when I had premium. The constellation sidebar that Im using looks very nice in the new layout, but the rest of the site is completely void of anything creative. I noticed they finally added other colors along with 'Neopets Yellow' under sidebars. Why couldnt they do that years ago when people asked? It hardly even matters anymore.

My lookup is ugly. Theres no better way to say it. I didnt have a fancy handmade lookup or anything, but at least I didnt have to see a little annoying graphic for every aspect of my Neo-existence. I dont want to see the ugly Emo Usuki hanging out just because she's my shopkeeper. I dont really need to see a tiny patch of grass underneath the Neohome section. Not to mention the images under the 'Collections' section, which clash ridiculously and look awkward.

The bottom panel of my lookup also has a habit of moving up and swallowing my trophies. I dont know if thats because I have ads blocked or what, but its really annoying. The strange spaces in the User Info section are bothersome too.

I'd love the option to switch back to the old layout, or at least the option to get rid of the side modules and all the ugly images on userlookups.

For that neofriends module, is there any way for me to not show up on other people's lists? On any site I visit besides this one, I always make sure that I 'appear offline.' I hate people knowing that I'm online, because then I cant go off and do what I want, and answer mails and questions later. Before, only Premium users could see that I was online on Neopets, and it wasnt a big deal because most users werent premium. Now Im bothered!

I actually think it isn't that bad, and it will take people time to get used to it, like most things that change.
At least the baby koi hasn't changing.

But the best news is, I have a Nintendo Wii coming tomorrow, so I will b playing that instead for a while

Your poor Bori, that is totally repellant. I used to find Boris one of the cutest species and would very much have liked one, but that is now atrocious.

Very relieved my Grey Uni and Darigan Hissi haven't had the new artwork enforced as I'd have dumped them instantly, the new versions I find deeply ugly. Overall this is a really unpleasant set of changes, feels bad to use and worse to look at. Very disappointing.

I think I'll like the new layout well enough once I get used to it and once I figure out how to block the ads. I don't want the Neofriends list on the side of every page, though.

However, I hate hate HATE the fact that the new (and often ugly) custom pets are mandatory for most colors and not optional. I also hate the fact that you can't choose which style to use when painting a pet. I was planning to paint my Peophin Faerie and the thought never crossed my mind that I'd have to do it before today if I wanted the nice old Faerie Peophin and not the stupid new one. Now there's no point. I wish they'd at the very least warned us a few days ago that this was our last chance to paint our pets if we didn't want them to be ugly...

I seriously hope that they're planning on making it optional next week and that's what they're getting at in the news. Otherwise I may have to seriously rethink the amount of time I spend on the site.

There are way too many modules/tables on the pages, there really needs to be an option to remove some like there is on the portal... it's so cluttered ><

I sent in a complaint to the editorial. Everybody else who hates it, please write in as well, and ask for a way to toggle between classic neo and this monstrosity of horrible site design.

I guessed there would be a lot of people offering the hollow advice "get used to it". But this time it's insulting.

For those of us who have absolutely no choice but to use 56k dial up internet. This site now takes anything up to thee times longer to load than it used to. The pet images, well, I must say I gave up. It too far too long. Why do we need an image like this?

Then there's the main site. Anyone new coming to this could very likely leave. It's hard on the eyes and way too cluttered. I'm also not sure if I want my neofriends knowing how long I've been online. I'm not too sure if there's a way to alter this, but as it take a horendus amount of time for me to do anything now, I haven't looked.

There are so many things they could have wasted their time on. I was hoping for a new plot or something. I've nothing against customising pets, but all this aswell? Too much at once. It gives me a headache just thinking of it.

I'm usually on TNT's side. But not this time.

And to top it off. I'VE STILL GOT A 6 YEAR SHIELD! My account turned 7 on the 20th of April 2007... I want my shield! X___x

My gripes with it are...

I am quite seriously considering ditching my lutari. Every time I see the new pose I want to claw my eyes out.

Everything looks cluttered. There's a lot of unneccessary things - for example, my pets have never done a job, so why do I need a little job agency counter on their page anyway? Why is my shopkeeper on my lookup?

I don't want to show up as a neofriend on other people's pages.

None of my painted neopets have anything to customise them. I'm guessing only brushes like royal, halloween etc. that have objects and clothes will be customiseable - will the price of these go up, and the price of 'non-customiseable' brushes go down? I feel cheated - if I'm being forced to have these new poses, I want to be able to actually use the feature. Anyone have a maraquan grarrl and has converted it? Does it have objects to customise with? My other three don't and I would rather not convert my favourite pet if I can't help it.

Only one of my pets has the option to remain in the old pose. The others - including the godawful lutari - I am forced to keep.

The adverts are larger and more prominent.

If I didn't have to scroll so much I'd say it was easier to navigate around, less pages to go through to reach daily things like the bank and whatnot.

Yes, options to remove modules, please! I don't need to see the same information in little squares and ugly scrollboxes on every page. I want to gouge my eyes out! I liked the 'changing scenery' of navigating the old way.

I am going to try to refrain from using Neo too much today. I am already about 5 page hits in from curiosity alone. This is extremely upsetting.

Heh just a few of the things that will need cleaning up in my scenario, and I'm sure they'll eventually be dealt with.

1) The site needs to be a bit more customisable to cater for everyone's tastes. I don't care about how many of my "neofriends" are online and I don't care how severe my pet's hunger is. I need that turned off Cheeky Tongue I'd be a lot more interested in how my stocks are doing, and perhaps which pet day is coming up soon.

2) My disco kiko is absolutely horrible. Hopefully they'll catch on to this and make him a bit more tired, like he used to look, and not so cutesy.

3) Fair enough removing the sidebar, but I still want to be able to click on explore and go straight to the world map instead of opening up a menu where it gives me the option to do other things.

4) I need to find out how to get clothes for my pets Cheeky Tongue Even though the look of my hissi being bald is hilarious xD

5) My userlookup also needs customising. Nobody cares about my neodeck, cos it's pointless. People also don't care that an "emo" usuki is running my "store", but I'd happily change it to my gallery which is so much more interesting!

Ok, can someone tell me if the deluxe clothing items on your pets can be sold? Or do they go into a mini inventory? If you pound a pet with deluxe items, can someone strip those off and repound the pet?

If you hate your pet badly enough you want to dump it, why not just morph it? There are plenty of pets that look fine or haven't been forced into the Revamped images.
