So do I. I think a lot of people will do, since it was fairly impossible to beat him first time, but after getting your special weapon, its much easier to beat him

It's possible. Make sure you have the skill "Burrow." Use it, use a shield, and your nuria weapon.

uhm... what is a nuria weapon...? i hope its not something plot-related, i really don't have the power to search for hundreds of scrolls in the repository (which is where i stopped because it was frustrating).

its plot related. after you get the mysterious scroll, you translate your tablet again, tell the new prophecy to Nuria, the statue in the temple and she gives you a choice of 3 weapons. Each one will beat Razul
