Not sure, but I think I heard around 5 mins? Your lockout will be about 30 mins._B4U_ wrote:How long does it take a stolen item space to reset? (I was waiting for a table space to reset, then accidently clicked a little bit above where I was supposed to click, which happened to be an open scroll rack space and well... now I'm locked out)
Could it be possible that you happened to place your furniture there right when the lines were being redrawn for that space?Just thought this might warrant posting. I have found that if you try to place items on the smeared lines (stolen pieces) it might let you place it there...but now it seems more often then not it will say that someone stole the furniture. Ontop of that I have lost 3 pieces of furniture by doing that.

So I would suggest following the procedure as close as possible. Grab, ID/ED (points for whoever came up with that... not just any ED here ...definently a Special ED) then put it on a solid line on the right floor.

Ooh, I see! Thanks for the trick!dolphinling wrote:Hidinger wrote:Just thought this might warrant posting. This is wrong. Here's a repost from an old thread: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 802#467802
When something is stolen, it goes blury, and the spot is unavailable for a certain amount of time. After that time is up, though, it doesn't immediately go unblury. It will become solid again when someone does a furniture-placing move** on it.
If you know this trick, you can know to try some of the blurry ones, because there's a chance they're actually open, they just don't say it. I've gotten lots of benches and even a few tables this way.
** A furniture-placing move is when you click on the spot you're on or one of the 4 spots next to you. If you have furniture, it will try to place it there, if not, it still counts as a "furniture-placing move"
Edit: There is one bug about this, though: if you make a line solid, it doesn't immediately show up on your map. When you make any other move, though, it will. So if you're trying to place furniture on a blurry spot, here's the rule: If it gives you the "somebody's stolen" message, it's still closed, but if it just reloads the page without doing anything, it actually made the line solid, and you can hurry up and put your furniture there!

Aaargh, I've been waiting for that spot for 10 mins! T.T Why'd I have to pick a bench?!

No, it's okay, I managed to place the bench in the end.Kess wrote:Higure wrote:No idea... :/

You can go back to the tent and ditch the piece you have, and get a different piece of furniture.

I never wait for the picture to load, I just navigate using the maps and have my mouse in the right spot so that as soon as the pointer turns to a hand I click. It's much faster because the only time you have to wait for the picture is when you are not sure where to go next

Actually, that's a good tip even for people on fast modems. I have DSL and I use it all the time. Sometimes I even click before the page loads, and it still works anyway

Actually that increases the chance of a lockout

True, but not once you get used to it.
I've memorised the entire path from the entrance to the first floor stairs and I never put a click wrong. I've had to, because of my slow dial-up...
