I highly suspect that collecting prizes every day is one of the requirements, but not the only requirement.

Wow. I just had a thought... what if you get the sidebar for a certain number of winter pageviews?!

That means if you collect the advent calendar every day you'd have an advantage... but the pageviews requirement might be something like 30-40+, so you'd need to do some other pageviews at other spots as well.

I'm going to doubt that, because i buy scratch cards almost daily, do the snowager, collected my prize everyday, ect. I'm there a lot more often that my sister who did get it.

Ah, poop. I thought it sounded kinda plausible, but figured it could be easily disproved. The point system sounded a bit too complicated, but pageviews seemed a good compromise.

I don't know how we'll ever figure this out... !

What if one of your pets (not necessisarly the active one) has to be a pet shown in the advent calender animation?

For me, none of my pets were featured, that I can remember. There were no spotted grarrls, blue or red rukis, or glowing gelerts. closest they got was a halloween ruki and pink? baby grarrl.

Don't think it's that, either, as there weren't any faerie kougras, christmas zafaras, royal draiks or ghost lupes involved, and I got the sidebar. XD And that just wouldn't be fair to the whole site. (not that this guessing game is either)

For the people who collected every day: did you get glitched on any of the AC collects?

Maybe the requirement is not only visiting the AC every day, but collecting all the prizes as well. So if you had to go buy something because the AC glitched you out of it...it wouldn't register as actually "collecting" all the prizes, and would thus make you ineligible for the sidebar.

It would suck -- losing the sidebar because of site glitches -- but I think it's definitely possible.

I missed one day, and I didn't get the sidebar.
I did almost every other theory, but still didn't get it. Oh well, I didn't really want it to use it, just another thing to collect, another number to increase on my lookup. Oh well there's always next year.

I don't see how TNT can expect us to ever figure this out, it's nuts. It might as well be random. >.>

Perhaps the collecting every day requirement included Christmas in July?

I got the av yesterday, and I didn't have "Let It Snow" as my active avatar, I didn't have a snow petpet attached (though I did have one in my inventory, see my earlier post) and I didn't have a snow pet.

Is it possible TNT has a long list of conditions, and perhaps if we satisfy a small number of them we get the av?

Edit: I did buy the book and the plushie, since they didn't come the easy way.

I got a "replace" instead of the bori plushie. I had purchased the plushie in case it was a requirement to have all the items. I did get the sidebar.

I got it this year, not last. The only difference I can really think of between is that last year I'm fairly certain I collected my usual dailies, including bank interest. This year I didn't. I collect every day irregardless at no set time.

This is the same with me! Last year I collected my dailies before hand. This year I did not and I got the side bar.

... I do. i think it increases your chances at a Winter RE tho, cuz i messed the sanimation, then went back to check it and *poof* Icy Negg! and later... *poof* 2 negg tokens
