Re: Key Quest in Beta Testing

I finally got in...and had just finished my second turn...when it froze. I'd gotten NPs, an item (transporter helmet thingy), and a blue key. I eventually gave up and refreshed, to find this:
Thanks for helping us beta test! However, Key Quest is currently offline for maintenance, likely because you crashed our servers from all the load. It's okay. We forgive you. :P

The game will return soon. In the meantime, here are some fun things you can do while you wait:

* Get a haircut
* Eat a sandwich (sandwich not provided)
* Invade Mystery Island
* Go outside
* Build a lawyerbot
* Plant a tree (tree not provided)
* Take a nap
* Obey the Meepits (Meepits provided BEHIND YOU! Just kidding.)

Neopets is not responsible for any injures incurred while attempting any of the above tasks.

I got as far as the "house" image where you select the game/chat. Now it's down. *sigh* Guess they didn't anticipate this much people playing (or trying to)

Yay for deflation; I'm currently saving up for my pet's next round of training. :D

Oh, and Jellyneo says the gold key *may* give a PB (but don't hold your breath for it)

Well, today I've gotten as far as choosing your starting house before the game totally freezes. I just want some prizes for having already tested the game! :P

That message Pickles saw is up right now...I'm taking they were like

Oh crap...this game can't handle this many people at once!

I think it's something like that. They have been testing the server load specifically. My guess is that when the message is up, they've taken the whole thing down to do some sort of major change as compared to the "tweaking" changes Snarkie kept referring to. Since the whole point *is* to make it possible to handle that many people at once...at least they're doing it in "beta" and not waiting until it's supposed to be fully live!

I think they changed it back to Premium-only testing because I can still play.

Sadly, I have played 5-6 games, and they all have frozen in the middle of the game :( I have yet to finish a game

I finally got through a whole game - got a silver key, which was redeemed for a Master Vex Stamp, Ogrin Survivor (book), and The Plushie Coffee Table Book.

No codestones for me :(

Curious: even if you don't win, do you get to keep the keys you did manage to get?

Not the in-game keys (like Yellow or Green). You win a key (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Lead) just for playing, though.

I'd figured they didn't translate as exact colors. :P
So if you win, do you get multiple keys? Like, say you win a 4-key game, do you get 4 random keys?

Edit: sorry for all the random questions. I'm a little too curious for my own good sometimes, and this particular game has my interests highly piqued.

I think you just get 1 key for winning the game. If you are just out to win prizes, I suggest you do 2-key games because they will not last as long as 5-key games. At the moment, you can only play 5-key games.

I don't think so, because I'm Premium and I can't access it...at least I couldn't when I posted that message...I haven't checked recently.

EDIT:
Just checked...still not available.

I think too many people are trying to get in again :(

Earlier, when people got the message, I was still able to play, so I think they may have taken it out of Open Beta...

Each person gets 1 key relating to where they finished in the game.

In a 4 person game - you get 1 winner each for Gold, Silver, Bronze, Lead.
In a 3 person game - only Gold, Silver and Bronze.
In a 2 person game - only Gold and Silver.

*Doesn't take much to figure out that 2 person games are the real winner here. :)

Whoever gets through the exit first is the winner and gets the Gold key.

Once the Gold is decided, the other keys are awarded as:

Silver - highest NP's won it that game.

Bronze - 2nd highest np earner and

Lead - 3rd highest np earner.

I got quite lucky and managed to get in on a two player game. First time Igot to play and I won. Wow, what a nice haul!

Your received the following prizes:
Purple Negg
Mau Codestone
Grundo Inspired Dresser
Chalkboard

I think I would have a better time playing with neofriends versus the random person in queue, but it was pretty fun. I can see how a 4 player game would just take entirely too long though. I have a 1 year old, I am lucky he took a nap and I got a game in as it is. :D
