Yes, it is, but you want the left side to cover exactly half and the right side to be open fifteen small notches. Right now, you have both sides open a bit. I would suggest only using one gear at a time and figureing out which ones open the right side 4, 5, and 6 notches.

No, it is not. Mine was the 22 book in room 12,9 I believe. (I don't remember what room, I posted it a while back) There are 31 books in all the rooms, and the spell book is in one of the regular places.

That's wrong. You need to join up the side ones to the second star, not the third. Look at the clue again.

Something I'm finding helpful is using the Avant browser- it allows you to open all links in a given page (in seperate tabs). I haven't found my spellbook yet but this is a lot easier than clicking one by one.

Okay I'm raging. I'm now 6 hours in and I'll reaaly on for punching who ever came up with the idea of rumaging through archives for a sodden spell book. Has anyone came up with a solution to the random-ness of the whole thing?

I used tab, and if you used your back key instead of your back button on your browser, you can just click tab again and it will take you to the next book. That way, you won't have to tab back through all over again. I actually found my book without using my mouse at all. (Well, just to click on the picture so I could tab.)
And I'm collecting data on the spell book, so if someone has found theirs and would be willing to help, please pm me.

As far as I know, all books have been found in one of those rooms. (including mine)

Kasia have you tried a number corolating to the stars in the conselations to see if perhaps one of the stars is the spell?

No, because there are no negative spells and I'd rather not try to find all my 72 stars if I find that my spells do the same thing as someone else's spells, because then they wouldn't be related. But if someone would be willing to tell me what some of their spells do, and my spell of the same number does something different, then I'll try that.
