Huh. If you change your room coordinates to a negative number you get this:

Aaahhhhhh!!

Oh no! You seem to have found your way into some kind of spatial abyss! What a ridiculous feature to build into a library.

I saw this on the NeoBoards, and it worked for me, so here's hoping it works for you as well:

All your valves will be "straight", meaning they'll all look like a + sign, not an X. In the room to the left, you should just have the two valves pointing straight. In the main room, the first you come to when you go through the door, both valves should be straight, and the lever needs to point up. In the third room, what I believe to be the varying room, you have to alternate up down up, or down up down. In my case, it was UP-DOWN-UP, and then they rejoiced that I fixed the plant. Hope this helps you :)

Didnt work for me

No, the result does not depend on your choice of which room you're in. The switches in the other rooms matter (or it probably does). In other words, it's not (one of 2 states)^(each of 3 valves) * (one of 3 rooms), but ((one of two states)^(each of 3 valves))^(each of 3 rooms).

Actually, now that I look again, the first room only has 2 valves, so it's 2^2 * 2^3 * 2^3, or 256.

You're completely right now that I've looked through the rooms. That's going to be a pain trying to do 256 combinations...maybe I'll hit the right one early on :P How long did it take you guys?

The best way to do it is to do it systematically. When you reset your valves, go to the 3rd room and set the last lever to down. Then set the rest to up, including in other rooms. (Do the same for the wheels). Go through the last room, though every possible combination, then go back to the second room, and back again. It goes by pretty fast. You'll eventually find it. If it's just random, then it's a more fun way to do it than haphazardly clicking.

Yeah, that's how I like to do things. I wrote out the combinations and was just getting ready to set everything back to "normal" when I got it. Total accident, of course. But time-saving. :D Didn't even flood Altador...I wasn't aware that I could before I read other people's comments.

Mathematically, it would be 8^3. But the rooms should not be part of the permutation. Since it's 8 combinations in each room, it's not as if you could could combine the rooms as a fourth element into the combinations...or am I approaching this with the wrong logic?

When I asked if I was right in my calculation, I referred more to whether or not if there were more possible position of wheels than I discovered.

Maybe the last constellation is in the archive, like the room coordinates coincide with the star coordinates. Will be trying it.

Err, or maybe I won't. If someone has the Hunter on their star mapper maybe they can try it, mine's not apparant, but I'll be checking around the edges.

Theory as to the Hunter constellation:

Believe you me that this will not be a fun one. I believe we will need to brave the horrid monotony of the Archives to find the clue as to which statue the amulet goes on. Once that is done and the amulet is placed, the next step or the clue will be revealed.

He looks like my ickle Moko. :( If Moko were a bit pudgier....

As for the library... maybe we have to hunt down something or someone in it (yay for more mazes  )? Perhaps the Protector herself?

why did the lights go out? the janitor was kinda upset about it. he told me to ask around. ^^

The janitor shouts, "Punch Club?! You went to Punch Club without me?! RAARGHHR! I LOVE PUNCH!! I WISH I HAD SOME RIGHT NOW!!!" He foams at the mouth and growls incoherently.
