Anjuna, you have a PM! :D

Mon Mar 27, 2006 1:00 am

I got my second data set by refreshing the data page between the hour and 3 minutes past the hour (may take longer for some, not sure)
Anyway you can try and see if it works!
Make sure you have saved your original data in notepad or something :)

map

Mon Mar 27, 2006 1:00 am

Okay...what exactly do we mean 'map your sky'?

Mon Mar 27, 2006 1:07 am

Thanks, Elric, having a hard time keeping up here and PPT is loading VERY slow for me. Plus life is disrupting my plot time. :P You know how that goes. ;)

meresged,
Have you followed all the steps as outlined on the first post of this thread (and every other split we have had)?

As far as I know, using only one colour to map, may only be theory. If anyone knows for sure please let us know :)

Well, I seriously doubt that stars would be restricted to a single colour. I mean, there are 12 heroes/statues, and therefore 12 constellations. At 6 stars per constellation, that's 72 stars.

Sure, there are enough white stars to cover that many, but it doesn't make sense that constellations would consist of 1 type of star only. For instance, red stars may be bright markers in constellations, and the other 5 could be white, or some other combination.

Also, since we've firmly established the fact that everyone's star map is different, but the gem patterns/constellations are the same, I sorta doubt that we'll be using those patterns for the basis of each constellation, otherwise TNT would have to code certain stars into everyone's map to ensure that we were all able to find those constellations (and thus far, every star map seems entirely random). My guess is that certain characters (or something) will pop up and they will offer us each individual coordinates for stars based on our individual maps. Then, once we've received 6, we plot those to form a constellation.

In regards to the book, and people wondering how the Altadorians can write a book on the history they've forgotten, my theory is that the book was written centuries ago, and that the Altadorians hid the pages away but left clues for themselves so that they could put the book together. Similar to the clues "K" left for himself in Men in Black II.

clarification: for those who have gotten their second star map, do you refresh the get_star_data page to find it, the actual map as viewed through the telescope, or does it matter? i've been refreshing the get star data page, but no luck yet.

I finally got the data for my second map! Although I didn't get to see the actual thing...:(...

yep, someone did!

I had asked this earlier, but after reading this post, I think maybe I was misunderstood as well. I thought you meant overlaying the glyphs to the gems, which was my question. Anyway, maybe some sort of definition would help, so...Please let me know if I've got the wrong term or terms to these things here.

Gems on ceiling =

Glyphs (or I don't know another name for these) =

TCG Cards (sorry, I don't have a good one of the Gatherer) =

Then evilpets overlay of gems to the TCG =

There should be several links to "mapped sky" on the previous threads. But, thought maybe this would help clarify things for me, in case I wasn't using the right terms.

:D haha. yep, that really clarified! Hang on, i'm fixin' it!

What am I doing wrong with posting images?

cslewislover / Vicki:
I am not sure why your copy and paste functions are not working. Are you using them from browser windows? Try highlighting what you want then using the keystrokes Ctrl-C for Copy and Ctrl-V for Paste. (Ctrl-X is Cut and Ctrl-A is to highlight All.)

If you still have more trouble, send me your star_data and I can sumbit it and post a link to a picture of it, if you like.

EDIT: I am sure most of us have realized by now that we can't just click ANY 6 stars and get that Submit button (also, we can keep drawing lines after 6). Is there some order of color or other combination we need to find? And how should we draw the lines? o_O Just throwing stuff out here, I realize no one knows anything definitive yet. Food for thought.

yes, I read the first post....but it's about as clear as mud. All it said was "Start Mapping!"
I've got my telescope pulled up, and the coordinates into the mapper listed in the first thread....but now what?

Mon Mar 27, 2006 1:44 am

I'm testing out my theory now...but man, I wish I could get my second set. That way I could test it myself. :x

Hmmm...I've been able to click on ANY six stars and the submit always comes up after clicking 6...every time, no matter how far apart they are. And once I've highlighted the sixth star, I can't "click" (highlight) another star after that. If I point to another one, the line follows, but I can't get it to connect after 6.

Congrats! you are now where we all are:
You can try to use the map to find constellations, theories range from using the blue line drawings to using the gems from above each statue
though afaik no-one has found a genuine (and accepted by TNT) constellation yet

Mon Mar 27, 2006 2:00 am

Elric, I sent you a PM, hope it went through.

I don't know why we only get the second Telescope view for so short of a time and so randomly but it is painful to think about.

I keep intuiting I am supposed to "plot" some star points first with the tool (to mark and remember them), THEN when I get my other map, plot more, and THEN connect them (somehow warping them in my mind to connect the two sets of stars in each of the maps). o_O

But that would be insanely impossibly, wouldn't it? (Please tell me that would be insanely impossible.)
