Despite the fact that games were once my main source of income, I've never been good enough at any one in particular to do well in the WC. Or at least I wasn't when they first came out. I always meant to try it again sometime. Too late now.

What was so cool about the WC scheme is that not only did it give gamers a potential reasonable source of income, but (if I understood how it worked correctly) it was a source of income that wasn't inflationary, which was the problem with most other schemes that would let gamers earn more NP.

It's awful that they're ruining it like this. They've changed the rules before -- we can only hope that they're still playing around to see what works and will change the rules again. Though you'd think any idiot could see that this change isn't going to accomplish anything positive.

My post earlier today was basically just a post to voice my opinion and disliking of the changes.
I'd like to add this for everyone to think about. The whole base of neopets is earning np the economy of neo is based upon earning np. I know of no other way where np come from other than people who play games. All the people who buy from neo shops, trades, auctions what not earn np differently, but the base np can only be earned from games to put np into the economy. Without the gamers, the entire neopian economy would crash and tnt needs to keep the gamers happy, and thus put back the incentive for neopians to play games in general.

I really wish they would ask the players what we'd like to see -- even just what we think works and what doesn't work with the WC -- before making drastic changes. Because dolphinling and I actually had a neat idea: If TNT really wants to take care of WC piece hoarders and price fixers once and for all while still allowing gamers to make some NP, why not do WCs like this:

Piece awarding would work the same as it used to (when you win a competition, the piece goes directly into your picture), except pieces would be non-sellable and non-tradeable -- basically, only the person who won them could use them. Once you collected a full picture, you could convert and move on to the next, and once you'd converted all three, you could clear them all and start over. Prizes would be the same, so series one's would be pretty sucky, two would have better ones, and three the best ones.

If TNT was concerned about people earning and converting way too many times, they could limit us to three (non-double) pieces per game per day. That way it would take most WCers about a week to complete a picture (providing they're only excellent at one game in a world, as most of us seem to be). We wouldn't be earning as much NP as we were before, probably (because there's a good chance the prize you earn will be worth less than the picture itself), but we'd still be making NP, and it would be more fair. I can't see any real flaws with this plan... at least, it sounds a whole lot better than the current system. I dunno, any thoughts?

Looks like some of the games will be changing on daily. So you will have to look each day to see if it is your big day and you get your spacific game that you are good at back. Why don't they just leave them all there if they are only going to let you earn 3 pieces a day. Is that 3 peices from 1 game or a total of 3 peices from any world?

Another thing you can't even get to the wc from that games anymore what a pain,

Dunno. That might work for the regular WC players, but I wonder if there aren't a lot of people who are good enough to earn a few WC pieces but not enough to complete maps regularly. (If I ever tried to play WC I'd likely fall into that caterogy.) If you couldn't sell the bits, and could only convert them for prizes, people who could only earn pieces occasionally would be SOL.

Though it does sound like it would be better than the latest few sets of changes.

I don't claim to know enough about economic theory to know what happens to an economic system if no new money is created AT ALL (besides deflation, of course) but there are other ways TNT could release NP into the system besides games. Not that I think there's anything wrong with games, but they ARE a major source of inflation. Giving prizes in addition to NP is, as I said, a fabulous way to increase the income of gamers relative to restockers without adding to that. It's too bad TNT seems to be messing that up.

IM not sure if this would work or not but hear me out , If you played any game you wanted for the world challenge say you played dubloon disaster and insted or reciving a krawk island map you recived any map from any of the places in neopia and in any series , this way you lower the chances of hoarding .
I am very upset with all this , i was just getting into WC before all the changes happened .

Well, that could work but it would take so much buying and selling (thus causing massive inflation) to do something like that it would take away from it and no one would play.

But I am most certainly sure that all gamers who play and are apart of PinkPT are outraged :x

It seems the WC is broken anyway.

I am getting an error message when I try to enter, now. It says, "ERROR : Sorry, but you can only win a max of 3 pieces per day."

I haven't won any pieces today. I have entered 3 times so far today, but I only won a map piece in 1 of those hours.

So it is screwed up, it seems. It is only letting you ENTER a challenge 3 times ... not even win 3 pieces in a day ... it cuts you off after just entering the 3 times.

sigh.

Not entirely, but you're close. I actually played in 4 challenges today, just to test this one out. I won two of them. You can enter more so long as your previous scores could not have been eligible for a map piece (for example, your tally was negative). Once you've had three scores over a tally of 0, you get cut off, whether or not you earned map pieces from those hours.

This still wouldn't be even close to as bad if it were 3 pieces per game or per world per day. I just can't even imagine what they were thinking.

What they where thinking? What they where thinking is how stupid they can get in order to stop people from playing Neopets anymore and make it a very lame and lousy site like it's became in the past 2 years, even since this TCG thing began it seems.

They don't care about their players anymore, not like they used to. They don't care to listen, they don't care to get rid of autobuyers. All they care about is making money like every corporation out there now in days, not the people who play the game that gives them money.

It looks like they've clarified the feedback about what the 3 wins are.

And they've reset the hiscores.

Where have they clarified it?

I just tried entering the Volcano Run competition (not to get a piece; it was too late) to see if I could, even though I earned more than three pieces this morning, and it let me enter. Are others still locked out for entering competitions three times?

This whole thing is just terrible. I honestly did not think they could screw it up any more after the whole "pieces now go to your inventory" debacle. Thanks for proving me wrong yet again, TNT!

So...I have mixed feelings, but overall they're negative towards the new changes.

Quote:
-New high score tables unique to the WC. Monthly and permanent.

Don't really see the point, but whatever:P

Quote:
-3 picture set to collect and great prizes to receive when you complete them.
-When you complete the third and final picture set, you have the option to clear all the pictures and start all over.
-All the prizes have been re-ordered to match the difficulty levels with a few new prizes thrown in.

Well I can win pieces again now (yay!) and convert again. It's like playing the lottery only a whole lot more time consuming with greater disappointment:)

Quote:
-Number of pic pieces that can be won are limited to 3 a day.
-The number of games available for the World Challenges has been reduced with the most popular games always appearing and the least popolar games appearing in a limited rotation. This prevents teams from ganging up on unpopular games to get the incredibly valuable prizes from this contest with no effort.

I'd think limiting the winnings would fulfill #2's mission just as well without eliminating the selection of games. My best were Hungry Skeith and Petpet Rescue...both of which I noticed were missing (scratch my previous happiness at being able to get pieces again, won't be happening with any of the 'popular' games). Contrary to what some are saying, this won't necessarily make pieces rarer, they'll just be more distributed.

Quote:
-Picture pieces are selected randomly and placed into your inventory when awarded. This prevents hoarding of a square (leaving one square open in the set so that it is always won) and cornering the market (buying up that square from the marketplace).

If there's any sound reasoning in this statement, it goes right over me. The only way I can think of to stop someone from "buying up that square from the marketplace" is to make them unsellable. And this change in fact gives those hoarders the advantage, since now in addition to the non-players who buy pieces, WC players who aren't lucky enough to get rewarded the piece they need are forced to buy an overpriced piece from a hoarder.

It looks like they have fixed it, and it is three pieces per day -- and not per day per game, either. Not even per day per world! I just tried to enter the Destruct-O-Match II WC (Tyrannia) and the Faerie Bubbles WC (Faerieland) and got this message:

Quote:
ERROR : You have already won 3 picture pieces for today and cannot win more.

Volcano Run Tally +1

Look, TNT: I hate the three pieces per day rule, but I can understand it. But please, PLEASE: if you are going to limit us to three pieces per day, please make it per game! Or, failing that, please make it per world. And COME ON, make the pieces go directly into our picture like they did before instead of into our inventory! Two of my three pieces for today were the same piece. What good is that? I realize you want to limit the amount of pieces out there for whatever reason, but can't you see this is just overly restrictive?

ETA: I just sent a slightly modified version of my above paragraph in to the Neopian Times editorial. I have spoken to a programmer who said the complaints are being forwarded to the people in charge of the WC, so I'd highly recommend that everyone send something similar in. We need to make them realize we all hate this!
