I still think it'd be fine if we could gift/gallery them, but not trade/auction/sell them.

I also think if they are going to mark the petpets who have been labbed, just that small lightening bolt by their name should be good enough. All that text makes it look messy.

Yeah giving them out as a gift would be neat, and also have it in your gallery... I still think its cool but I hope they will do all petpets..

ARGH! THIS IS JUST PLAIN STUPID. Being one of the so called "lucky few" that lost Lab Ray access for the highly overrated Improved Defense (Long story short, you can lose your Lab Ray Access and have it replaced by Improved Defend and two other Sponsor Abilities...its supposed to be a reward or something...its a pain in the , not a reward), I can't afford to get the PetPet Lab. This makes me so mad! *goes to write angry letters to TnT about not only losing the Lab Ray but having to pay for the highly inflated Lab Ray prices AND the Petpet Lab Map Prices*

Stupid Neo! They should of released another map to stop this inflation. GRRRR....

Well, the lab map prices still seem to be at their normal level.
Let's hope that for the sake of the people who don't have it yet, it will stay that way.

I do agree on the Gift/Gallery item only thing. It would be fun for Petpet Collectors, certain color colloctors, etc,etc.

And to the deflation of petpet things. Some petpet's should and will be as much as the are because they look great, IE: Snowager one. He is very rare and very wanted, meaning he must stay high priced. Same goes for someone turning a Snowball into a Furwitch. The Furwitch is a rare, and retired pet. It shouldn't be allowed to be touched by something like that.

So I think it is fair that people can't sell Aboniable Snowballs that have turned into a Golden Goldy, but I think it's silly that we can't keep the pets into our accoutns.

Plus, this would increase the Aboniable Snowballs. We don't want that now do we What ever would we do if we didn't have a 500NP pet anymore? Seriously.

Erg, I was gonna save up for a map, because I thought, well it might change my wocky faerie! I had one piece not too long ago I should have kept it!

I have a habit of removing petpets after a while to get the avatar ones... it's just not fun if they go back.

As Xerophyte noted, lab map pieces have not inflated yet. (Which isn't to say they won't, but there's no cause to panic yet.)

I'm really not sure that TNT could have allowed people to zap petpets into different species and sell them without messing with the economy in strange and perhaps undesirable ways. (For one thing, a lab that did that would likely be VERY expensive, because of the potential for profit, so that only the very rich could afford it: are more ways for the Neopian rich to get richer really what we need?) Being able to gift them but not trade them doesn't solve everything: it would just create another opportunity to be scammed and another freezable offense (because surely in that situation buying or selling labbed petpets would be a freezable offense.)

I suppose they could have made them like the starter paintbrushes: impossible to sell or trade, though I don't know whether coding that would be more complicated than the current "reverts if you detach." I don't see the inability to detach a labbed petpet as much different from the fact that you can't detach a petpet without losing the age, the levels, and the petpetpet... annoying, but at least consistant. I also think the ability to revert your petpet to its original form at any time has its benefits as well: even if you already have 4 expensive petpets, as long as you don't mind losing the ages you can play at zapping them, then restore your petpet to its original form (as opposed to retiring the ray, as you have to do with the normal Lab Ray once you get 4 paint jobs too expensive to lose).

Dunno. So long as the normal lab map doesn't inflate, I don't really see this as being a particularly bad thing. People who want to play with changing thier petpets can do so secure in the knowledge they can always get the original back, the rest can go along their merry way. :-)

That's what I figure. Who'd lab and expensive petpet when they could potentially achieve the same results from labbing a cheapo? Far as I can see, making the lab effects permanent would have the effect of decreasing petpet inflation. But if that's the thing you're worried about, I say don't worry -- surely the rarity factor of a petpet being transmorphed into a snowager or a turmac or the like will be extremely high..I can't see how it could have a significant effect on the inflation of any one species of petpet (except for, perhaps, the abominable snowball )

Do we know for sure that labbed petpets will revert to their original species once removed?

Yes. Yesterday there was a glitch with slorg flakes -- if someone slorg flaked your petpet, it got that little lightning bolt and "zapped by the petpet lab ray" text. If you then unequipped the slorg, it reverted to your normal petpet. It may actually still be happening; I dunno.

No biggie on the "No PPL" thing for me, I even had a snowbunny that was older than some of the ones on the board, but I didn't show up or get a single neopoint! I thought the idea of it was to reward those that had it the longest, not a random 250 or whatever. Has anyone else been cheated out of it?

Ok the PPL thing is not such a big problem to me since i rarely keep a petpet for long. I like the freshness of changing. Haha.

But if we take out our pets and they change back to normal.. It would really suck. If they remain the way they are, not only will prices of the rare petpets drop, the quantity of these rare ones would increase. Indirectly, it is helping the economy.

The down side is... lab maps prices will surge up into the skies.

Side Note: I remember that there was once a game which gave out maps rite? Called treasure hunting or something... That was the main reason Secret Lab Maps were costinf barely 20k but once it was gone, 40k ++ were the prices.

Yeah there use to be a game that gave out map pieces and for a while the SHH that gave out map pieces surged. I think I got 3 map pieces a day for 2 or 3 days in a row. So hopefully they will do something to try and keep the prices down as I would personally really like to get this one...looks like fun. I still haven't seen any on the Wizard or Trading Post...But the map pieces look cool

Hmm... I just thought of something...
Will we be able to paint these zapped petpets? I'm guessing probably not, we'll just have to detach them and paint the original. =/ Because if you paint it and decide to remove the petpet later, you'd lose a paintjob as well? O.o'

I guess if you're planning on getting the lab map and have the money, get it now just in case the pieces inflate. Or get as much as you can. *is currently saving as fast as she can* ^^';

I was kind of hoping the petpet lab would be seperate, though.
