That would totally defeat the purpose of advertising at all. Everyone would just turn off banner ads and the sponsors wouldn't be able to generate any revenue, so they'd drop Neo.

The banner does give me a slight headache, but it's nothing I can't deal with personally. I don't care as long as they don't put up those "YOU ARE THE 20850850958th VISITOR KLIK TO GET YOUR PRIZE!!!1111ONE!" ads that give me a worse headache. x_x I like the moving of the UL, active pet, and NP links to the top. Not as much scrolling as far as that goes. ^^

And coming2atvnearu has a good point. At least they've notified us beforehand this time. :P

I agree the banner is HUGE, but I'll get used to it.

I do have to say that I really like having my UL, Pet, and NP at the top right tho.

What date is Thanksgiving in the US? Should we be giving thanks for bigger banners? :P A Neo-thanksgiving joke - so we can be thankful we *don't* have huge banners? ;)

LOL!

Actually I agree with it being good of them to give us warning and being honest about it, I don't agree with the banner being "small fries" I KNOW that this is gonna make people leave the site. I just went and refreshed the new template a few times, to see different banners at that size (I don't get sponsor ones cos I have premium) but even the Neo ones themselves have just set off a headache/upset stomach in me :(

Edit: Forgot to say - I also like the moving of the UL, pet, np links too :)

How's Firefox work with Windows 98? Anyone try it? I have an old computer and I don't want to crash it or anything, but I cannot stand these new banners and I need some way to block them. So it's going to be either Firefox, or some kind of add-on banner blocker for IE. Anyone know where I can get one?

Good. I downloaded the ad blocker. :D It's really good. ^_^

Officially we dont have a choice in the matter, seriously.

Unofficially you can block the big ugly banner with Firefox :)

Hehehe... Thanks Adam. :P

Or will your sponsors get mad?

What's the name of the extension in firefox you all are using? I downloaded one the other day to use on Neopets, and it just constantly crashed my browser.

I'm OK in Opera, cos I have plugins turned off, but I need Firefox to play games in :)

Thanks, Adam. Sorry you have to use the big ads. Also sorry I'm going to block them, but my computer honestly can't take it, especially if I'm trying to play flash games while the ads are going. Some of them (like Attack of the Slorgs) are really huge, file-size-wise, and slow down my computer a lot.

Is there any chance you could reduce the file size or use less animation or something? That would help.

Adam, the new template is just a mock up, right?

Thu Nov 25, 2004 12:21 am

Ugh...so there's no way IE users can block the ads?

Thu Nov 25, 2004 12:22 am

Eh, I've got no problem. Things happen, changes happen. :) One of the things we've all got to do in life is adjust. If you can't adjust to a new layout on a website, then how will you ever adjust to an annoying neighbor or a terrifying roommate?

Ack!!! The banner stink!! Well, at least we get an avater but still... :x
