Lol. Ugh, I am all for outrage when TNT messes with a good thing, but I can't even manage that right now. That is the most ridiculous stupid idea they have ever had. I mean, it has nothing what so ever to do with pets. I can see them creating a new contest for it but there are going to be SO MANY people trying to upload inappropriate content...I can't even imagine how they're going to monitor it.

Have you not heard of this thing called "flash?" Thousands of people make cartoons in it on a regular basis.

This is just a more complex form of fan-art/fanfiction for creative fans to submit. I don't see how it's any different from the art gallery or neopian times and I am FLABBERGASTED that any of you are actually upset about it. How the hell will it affect the way you play? Why do you guys have to get furious over ever single thing neopets does?

Note that flash is not one of the file format options available. The formats certainly suggest real-world video of some sort. The complaint seems to be more that it'll take away moderators when they're already short on them.

Formats: .mov, .qt, .mpeg2, .mpeg4, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv, .3gp, .3gpp.

It's a waste of time on their part and is just...really really dumb. To quote bonecrivain from the neocolours forums, they are turning the site into Neospace. Which is why I'd assume people are upset, it will affect the way we play because the addition changes what the site is all about.

This is the most pointless thing they've ever done. Why in the world would they want to do something like this? What's the point? I doubt it'll be used that much and it's a waste of their time having to go through 1000s of uploads and check them. So they can do something like this, revamp the site entirely, but can't create something simple like Neoschools? Right.

People are upset as it is going to mean Neopets moderators are going to have to spend a metric truckload of time moderating the videos (just think, there could be a thirty minute long video with 29 minutes of things that are fine, and then a minute at the end of constant swearing - the staff have to watch the entire thing before they know its wrong) when they should be moderating the rest of the site which is bad enough as it is.

Whenever there is a plot (especially) battledome plots, there is always lag as the servers can't cope with the strain. Now the staff are adding more strain to these servers, making BD Fighting during high activity times slow and boring

The programmers spent their time coding this dumb feature when there are many other things they could be coding or fixing on the site.

The videos seem to confirm something that's been bothering me since yesterday. I have a strong suspicion that the customization and revamped site are the beginning of something bigger. I wouldn't be surprised to see a huge Neopets ad campaign sometime this year promoting the site's spiffy upgraded new features. We who are adults will feel alienated as the focus changes by dropping the all-ages-are-welcome message and overtly promoting Neopets as a youth-oriented/hip/trendy place for a younger demographic. At my age I wonder if I would have even been interested in signing up with Neopets if I had just found it yesterday after the change. *sigh*

I really dont think I would have joined had I seen it today as a new member.
That or if Icame back after a few years of playing, i'd probably just stay away.

Im really thinking of just dropping neopets now... I dont know.... Grr Im just so mad that they changed so much. I really dont want to leave, but I dont think I could stand much more of these 'GREAT' changes

Seriously, when was the last time(outside of the past week or so) that Neopets did something new and different. Their latest plots have not been new and different--all that has been done before. New pet colors? New games? New items? *yawn*. Neo has done very little to give anything back to their fan base. From neoschools to advertisements to preimun content, they had instead done nothing but alienate. I am surprised that everyone is surprised with the most recent turn of events. I personally think it is actually a good thing that TNT is apparently putting time and energy into the website again. I mean, seriously, does it really take 30 some people to maintain a website that ads new items everyonce in awhile? Unless the code for neopets is horrible messed up, it should take one person five minutes to add a new item or pet color--or species for that matter. I applaud TNT for actually caring to do something new. Sure, their "new" in this case is a really bad idea, but at least they are doing something. I certainlly cannot remember the last they they put this much effort into their website---can you?

sirclucky, actually, I had a friend who is some sort of computer programming IT genius look at Neo not that long ago. He said they DID have messed up coding. And that's why and how some of the nasties have been able to put things like CGers, etc. on the site.

Anyway, the video thing. I read the full page for submitting videos. Basically, you give up all rights to anything you submit, they can use anything you've made for anything at all -- even advertising (which makes them $$).

I'm not actually upset about the video... I'm just upset that they're spending effort on something other than fixing my pets which, currently, are ugly.

Ahahaha, now I'm certain this whole thing is some late April Fools prank - what kinda crap is this? They can't possibly be serious with it - only a very small portion of people would even use the thing since you can't show faces or use music or upload Flash stuff (not too many people can even animate with that anyway).
Seriously, they're probably just making up for a crap April Fools prank (or plotting revenge for us all hating on it). Why else would they implement such drastic changes when they can obviously see no one wants it?
