I think it's just an activity. It probably has to due with the Shenkuu Lunar Festival.

Thank you for the sketch, bigheapnoname! It helped me get the right answer. I got Lotus Leaves.

The correct answer got me a "Moon Paving Stone" about 2000 np on shop wiz. No, wait: now it's 1900, 1700, ...

I haven't seen this mentioned yet so I decided to bring it up for discussion... :)

I don't think that this moon charting activity is a permanent daily. I think that it's only going to be around for the next 28 days (although they'll probably have a Lunar Festival every year). So prices may drop a bit, but I don't think that you're going to see the massive price destruction that you usually do with a daily activity, and if you do, it probably won't be permanent (think Halloween giveaway items rather than Altador) 8)

:P I've got it wrong both days. Hehe, my rewards have been simply great, well, maybe not, alas, I like how you get an item regardless whether you get it correct or not. I think I've been pretty close on both days, however. Maybe tomorrow.

Got it wrong yesterday (musta been off by one >.<) but got it right today! I got mint rolls. The cool thing is a lot of the prizes seem to be Shenkuu items, for which I plan to have a gallery eventually. ^_^

I got it wrong but who can be unhappy after receiving some...

Wow, I must really have not been paying attention in school when they taught this kind of stuff. I have yet to get it right.

Aww, I'm usually really good with this sort of thing- I LOVE astronomy and stuff like that.

But I've gotten it wrong twice now.

Rainbow Dung is certainly an interesting prize, though. I'm totally over-thinking it and wondering exactly why it's rainbow-colored.

Many people seem to be having trouble with this...so maybe I can help and put it as simple as I can. You really have to look at it from a logical point of view.

For example, if the moon is between neopia and the sun, from neopia's view, then it's a new moon, because the sun is shining on the side we can't see.
Full moon: If the moon is furthest from the sun, on the other side of neopia, then it's getting direct light from the sun on the side we can see.
If the moon is on either the right or left side of neopia, just look at its position, and ask yourself where the light would be shining. If it's on neopia's left side, then the moon's left side but not right will be getting light. Just the opposite if the moon is on the right.
Today, I had the moon in a position that was 3/4 full. I figured that by seeing that it was half way between being on the side of neopia and being furthest from the sun.

If anyone still needs help, I will gladly assist them.
It's rather fun for me, as I am a huge fan of the moon. <3

Edit: Thank you Erin for your correction. So much for my logical thinking, eh?

I think you have that backwards, actually. The moon is illuminated on whichever side is facing the sun. If the moon is between the sun and Neopia, the side viewed from the planet is dark. If the moon is on the other side of the planet from the sun, the side we see is illuminated.

Anyway, that link I posted earlier (http://www.astro.wisc.edu/~dolan/java/MoonPhase.html) gives a good visualization. Make sure to use the "Both" point of view.

Well third time's a charm. I finally got it right. Got a snazzy moon comb, other two times a bitten green apple and orange chicken.

Also did anyone else see that if you click on the moon on the chart it will cause neopia and kreludor to revolve around the sun? think its what helped me get today right I've been spining the moon the other way in my head
