Well first of all, yeah I agree with you, but then you don't have to be perfect in spelling ffs! Omg! Everywhere I go, I hear this "Learn to spell" thing, some ppl use short language, (the one where you say u instead of you". But then again you're right about the rude bit and maybe you should report her.

It's a simple courtesy issue.

It is polite to do one's best to use a language as correctly as one can. Spelling properly is part of the correct use of a language. By spelling the words "you" and "people" as "u" and "ppl", one is showing disrespect to the reader by deciding your time (as measured by the time you take to type) is more important than their time (as measured by the time it takes to read). This is a form of condescending behavior, regardless if the writer is aware of this behavior.

If one continues to misspell words in a written format (which using "short-speak" is in all actuality), one does not have the right to complain when another refuses to spend their time on reading the text. Nor can said person complain when people infer the author is ignorant or stupid due to their lack of etiquette or poor communication skills.

If that's so, you should realize that they don't have a problem sounding out words or retaining what they have been taught, but with recognizing letters and sorting out the order.
"delicuois" would kind of make sense for a dyslexic person, if they were copying the word down from somewhere and got a little confused.
slow typing would make more sense, especially if they actually cared to do it right. delishis and responcible show ignorance, or lack of trying.

Back to the subject at hand, I am glad to hear you reported this person. Flaming (see definition #6) is against the rules on neopets. If you choose not to treat your neopet like a real living animal.... *because it ISN'T one*... then that is your prerogative.

She has as much of a right to treat her neopet as a real animal as you have to do it your way. Everyone around here seems to forget that. What she does NOT have a right to do is tell you that you have to do it her way, and especially not by saying it in an insulting way. If she wants to have a crusade to have people treat neopets like real animals, that's fine, but she needs to approach other people in a respectful manner. And honestly, if you want to convince people to do what you want, it's going to work a lot better if you're nice to them; if you're rude or insulting, they aren't going to want to cooperate with you even if they think you're right.

As the saying goes, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."

As someone with Dyslexia, I don't particularly care to have the disorder trotted out for the simple purpose of making another poster feel badly.

As you should know, if you have friends with Dyslexia, it is in no way equated with stupidity. In fact, Dyslexics tend to have average to above average intelligences.

Yawn.
I'm Autistic, what's your point.

The english language is inaudibly complicated, I couldn't read until I was Eight because it just made no frikking sense to me, and even now that little voice in the back of my head says "C! A C goes there!"

As an adult woman with Dyslexia (Many more men are dyslexic than women)...mostly numeric, but also b's d's and p's sometimes look the same when I'm tired... usually, things look jumbled, or when I write exactly what I see and someone else reads it, it appears jumbled to them, when for me, it appears perfect. I do really well at scrambles, usually. <blush>

Anyway, from my experience with teens, it has been 'cool' to spell words incorrectly or say them wrongly. This is a major issue at my job, where our reps are customer service BANKING professionals, and sometimes they slip into this type of speach. (oh yea, that's fun.)

RElated to the issue, I have received messages from people asking me to spend NPs in their shop, because they are poor (selling 1 NP items for 500-1000....) or telling me my pets have a low hitpoint, and there is a place to take care of that...and how to get there..(I've been around for 49 months...) If you are listed in any leaderboard, or have a large shop, people will look at your accounts, and make unneeded comments.

You do not know if this child has mental health issues, or might be developmentally challenged...tread lightly till you know! 1 message, I'd ignore...5? I'd ask her to stop. After that, I'd report her.

There is a very easy solution to this:

BLOCK.

Yep, just block her nmails. I had a similiar experience just recently. I had someone tell me that I should stopping lying about all my avatars (on my petpage) because I don't own ......(pet species) to get that avatar.

I politely informed her, that indeed that I once did own that pet, but pounded it. I was then informed that I shouldn't waste Paintbrushes in such a way. :roflol: And so on through about 5 nmails - even when she lost that argument, she then went off about something else.

In the end I told her she was acting very immature and I would not tolerate such behaviour against me. I then blocked her.

As stated in an above post, if you have any recognisable fame (feed kads, own nice pets, have a lot of trophies, on any high score board, etc) you get your fair share of crazy nmails.

If it is too much of a problem, then block them and save your sanity. You will never be able to win as they deliberatly pick these fights.

Ya I'm with Daze just block that person. It is very rude of them to do that so just block them and then let that person be. However whatever you do don't retaliate.

I'd have to go with the 'block and ignore' tactic because you just can't win against some of these weirdos (sorry, I'm lumping them all into one big category - please don't hurt me!). Aside from that, sometimes I like to have a bit of fun with them but that can get you in trouble sometimes so back to the block and ignore strategy.
A neofriend got a neomail from a player asking her to discount a book in her shop from 1500np to 700np, then a 2nd neomail offering 900np. She lowered the item to 1495np and when she told me about the annoying neomails, I went to her shop and bought the item. She said I ruined his life. :roflol:  I was considering putting it in my shop for 1494 to try and draw the beggar out but figured I'd just get myself in trouble. Some people just have no sense of humor ;)

I appreciate all your thoughts on this, I have not blocked her, but then again she stopped neomailing me too. But in hindsight, I shouldn't have reported her harrassing neomails, oh well, I can't change that now. I was just a little upset by the situation and took the most extreme measure.
