I see another problem. If they had had this policy from the very start of Neopets, we'd still have Mellish's and Macy Gray's wandering around Neopia, and I, for one, am glad that they changed into actual pets instead of cartoon versions of random people. (And my first Neopet ever was a Lenny, the one they've probably changed the least over the years.)
edit: Not sure what the "Mellish" pet was all about. It was a guy with red/orange hair.

I think the old version of a pet should stay the same, as long as someone owns one or if it is put in the pound but if you create one using the "create a neopet" you would get the new version. That way people could keep the pet's they fell in love with.
And if anyone wanted an old version of a particular pet they didn't have, they would have to wait until one came into the pound.
But what if you like the Revamp and already have the species that was revamped?
And what if, say, a year down the road there is another revamp? 3 different images for the same pet? Then there is the possibility that they completely change the species for some reason. I don't think 5 images of a single pet (and that's just for one color) are really that necessary.
Here for years and still know nothing...
Neopets name is same as this one.
