I also only have 1 for training purposes...but if they ever make it so that only your active pet gets the quest rewards...I'll need 10 slots for my army of Krawks

As someone else must have said at one point in time somewhere, Neopets is pointless. Why do anything at all on Neopets in the first place? Because it's entertaining. I myself no longer care for the battledome and training. I only have a gallery because I want to have a trophy, if my gallery gets rejected or I win, you can bet I'll be selling off everything in there. I don't collect stamps, coins, seashells, whatever. I don't actively collect avatars anymore. I'm not a trophy hunter anymore either. My whole purpose in participating in Neopets revolves around my pets. It's certainly not hard to feed them if you use the Neolodge, and it wasn't all that difficult to feed them by hand the six months I didn't. I would have gotten bored out of my mind and quit 5 years ago if we had been limited to one account.

I would love it if we could have five pets so I could get something like a Faerie Lenny or Maraquan Shoyru. (I don't use side accounts and my main's already full.)

Yup I would love to have 5 pets too. I so wanted the Xweetok. but already got 4 pets. Although training 5 pets daily is going to be a problem....

4 Slots is quite good already if you ask me... Out of like 30+ plus pets we're getting 4 is like... almost a 11% of the pets. Not bad if you ask me.

And? It would have taken them seven years to increase it from 4 to 5. If Neopets is even still around in 7 years they can worry about whether to increase it to 6 then.
I'd like BOTH 5 pets (would let me begin using the lab on my main account again) and to be able to safely transfer pets between our own accounts (would let me spend some time with the pets on the second account.) Though of the two of them I'd prefer transfers.
Edit: I'm not sure I really understand why so many people have trouble feeding pets on their sides. I just keep 'em all in the Neolodge. It's cheap -- 5np a pet a day for the cheapest hotel -- and easy. If you don't want to do that, feed them on underwater fishing fish and omelettes. The fish (at least) are cheap on the Wiz, while you can't collect them on your sides, you can collect them on your main and send them over. I feed the pets on my main from the free Pepsi, 7-11, and Merinda promotions, so I never eat the fish, omlettes, and jelly I collect on my main, and I now have it coming out of my ears. I could probably feed the pets on my sides for years just on what I have now...

The argument of people saying they are happy with 1 pet or 4 pets or whatever, or that they don't see how someone could look after that number of pets etc is neither here nor there really.
Just because you could for example have 5 pets doesn't mean you would have to! If you are happy with four pets then that is fine but it doesn't mean other people shouldn't be able to want or ask for more if they want to x)
If on the other hand you are happy with 1/2/3/4 pets and think other people having more would negatively affect you then that's a whole different matter and would be a valid reason against it.

Some of us are very creative, and like creating personalitys for pets. My first pet was a Shoyru, because I love dragons. Then I got a wocky, but that was because it was supposed to be like a catish charcter I have in a story of mine...personalitys developed for both of them. I nabbed a poogle, just because when there were more, but when the bori's were relesed, I morphed it. I also transfered over a pet from my veeeryyy first account. Somehow, they too got personalitys.
I got bored occasionally, and made a new acount, with a new pet. Even if I didn't have one, a personality formed pretty quickly. I can't help it, it just HAPPENS.
So because of that, almost all of my pets mean somthing to me. xD But if we could have five pets, I'd probably transfer over my Hissi. ^_^ *hugs her*
Of course, the one downside of multiple pets is you don't know WHO would get blessed by the faeries...thats why when I first made the acount with Flyer, I swore it would just be her...ya right. xD That promise held up about as well as it had on my bird-themed acount. Got an Eyrie, swore it would be the only pet...saw an Eyrie in the pound, couldn't resist...adopted a Lenny because I couldn't resist...and made a Pteri for no real reason. >_>; *suddenly relizes that that acount has a lenny, and could thus get the avatar* Oo;

i think it's just the extra bother of having to log in and out of all those accounts. right now I'm keeping most of my pets fed at the soup kitchen, coz you're not supposed to have monies on your side accounts anyways, right?

You can have money on your side account as long as you earn the money on your main account - money and items can be freely transferred between all your accounts.
I have four side accounts and all are logged into frequently, it's a big plus side of using multiple browsers ^^

Though I have not read the full extent of this topic I do say I'd like to give my two cents in regard to the debate.
In my personal opinion I find anymore than 4 pets on one account tends to be a bit overwhelming-- I myself with three feel a little crowded. I'm not going to lie and say that I haven't been craving another one recently though-- as I'm sure you guys can see by my frequent posts on the Petpet matchup board.
I will say though, 5 seems like a comfortable number. But please, anymore than that and you risk a combination of problems, technical and common sense. Come the release of several new species, I can see adding another slot would be nice. But do you realise the weeks, if not months, there would be to implement this?.
I gave it some thought and noticed even minor areas of the site could, or would, be damaged. Userlookups might need revamping codewise because of table shifts caused by the extra 80 or so pixels judging by the image of the pet alone. Because Neopets primarily revolves around our pets, there wouldn't be one portion of the site that wouldn't need some reprogramming. The beauty contest, for instance. The book awards, the gourme club-- I'm sure in each of these there's some sort of slush that would need to be adjusted for another addition. Even simple tasks like manually feeding pets, fishing, and lab raying.
But all in all, I do say this..
If you all feel so strongly about needing another slot, why don't you politely inquire in the Editorial?. The link can be located by visiting it in a recent issue, for those that don't know.
I believe if we all ask a simple question together before next week's issue the entire debate will be solved. After all, they may even give us an exact reason if we state ours nicely. Sitting around and wishing isn't going to do us much good. But please if you do decide to ask, don't ask for anything outlandish like 10 extra pets-- that's a little far fetched and foolish.

As many as we want would be a little ridiculous, but 5 is good. There wouldn't be major problems--there are already people with 5 pets. The only real problem I could see coming up is that pages with all your pets on them would need to be redone for lower resolutions.
I doubt we'll ever get another slot, though. Some fairly major graphics would need to be redone.

So we need to cap it. And no matter where that cap is, people will always complain. If TNT gives us a 5th pet slot, wait a year and everyone will be like "Can we have six pets". The not being able to feed them is a lame excuse on TNT's part, tough. If that is what they care about, add a "bonus point" system. For each day that your pet is in good health(non sick, 50% or more of his HPs), well fed, and happy you get some bonus points. The more days you string togeather in a row, or the more pets you have, the more bonus points you get. In order to have more than 4 pets, you need a certain number of bonus points. To get six, you'll need even more BPs, ect... that might work, but really its just a matter of people will complain anyways, so why raise it?

that would be a really good idea . . . if it didn't mean a truckload more work for TNT. There's already a zillion other things they need to fix on neopets right now, so I don't think they're gonna bother with a minor gripe about the number of pets one can own at the moment, especially when we all know ppl are still gonna complain about it in the end.

I think the whole "Give them 5 pets, they'll just ask for more" argument is a bit silly. Most likely what will happen is that whenever someone has the audacity to ask for 6, everybody will just jump on them with "THEY JUST GAVE US 5!! STOP BEING SO UNGRATEFUL" and "Bah. You want six? Remember when we had FOUR? Now that was REAL torture." Such is the nature of neopets.
Personally, I don't think people would ask for more. The limit has been 4 since the very beginning. It's outdated. All we want is ONE more space. Not two. Not three. Not four. Not infinite. Just one. And who's to say what people will say? Nobody has asked for paint brushes from the freebies page yet have they? Who's to say that people won't be so damn happy with five pets, the very thought of six wouldn't occur to anybody for another 8 years. The only thing people would complain about would be if TNT totally screwed up and only allowed us to have half a pet. You didn't even get to choose which half. You'll end up with a 1/3 a torso and 1/6 a left foot.
