Here is a question about paying options
How can i do it ? I only have switch maestro card and my parents still don't have a credit card , what do i do ?

Wed Jun 01, 2005 8:22 pm

If you have a debit card then you can pay via paypal. I set up a paypal account to do it and it's not too complicated - though I admit my bf helped steer me through it, heh

But yes, you have the option of using a credit card or paypal to pay so you can use switch with the latter :) I'd give an in depth explanation but I got a little confused with it myself (I was in a grumpy mood, hehe) but it does explain everything step by step and the neopets paying part steps you through it as well =)

This sounds like SUCH a gimmick. I feel sorry for the people who are gonna try to win referal prizes as well as for the people who don't have the ability. An Avatar AND a sidebar! I could see giving such to them earlier than everybody else for such, but not exclusively. Too much pressure.

Well, in a way it is a gimmick, yes. I'm guessing this is the way staff thought of to be able to give a "special" avatar or sidebar (which I could care less about - special sidebars just slow my computer down) to premium members, many of whom have been asking for one. There was a survey not that long ago, and avatars/sidebars were on the survey.

So, having to have so many referrals, and the people referred/invited actually staying in order to "earn" the avatar/sidebar without everyone having a screaming fit that it isn't fair I think was the way they decided to go. Not that they aren't anyway.

But then there's always people having fits over one avatar or another, that's just the way it is. There are many avi's I don't have, will never have.

Don't feel sorry for anyone who has premium and is referring. With the exception of some people who did just run around and hand out invites to anybody who asked (and most of those people never even signed up - so they wasted their referrals, they just sit as pending), most of us who are referring are only doing so for people who do want and have wanted premium.

If I referred no one, that would be ok too. I don't feel any pressure. I just am willing to do so, and wanted to ask people here who may be interested before anyone on the site. Cause y'all are fabulous <3

As for the new people on premium who did just sign up, I am sure that there will be another referral opportunity. Doesn't seem logical that this would only happen once, does it?

Quite honestly, I don't see why anyone wouldn't support this. Maybe in the future, the money generated by Premium could replace one or both banners (though I doubt it). At first, I was bothered by the idea of Premium, but at this point I think they've done a decent job and I support the program.

Please note that I'm not taking a shot at Rune; I'm simply expressing my opinion.

If I do go for the dial-up pack I need to make sure the service is better than out dial-up service, in order for my dad to be interested. I also need to play on the outside features that are not related to the game itself. I'm the only one in the family besides my sister who plays the game.

I'm looking of anything better than what we have. Our dial-up is ok, but the hours are limited per month which suck terribly.

butterfly, well I just looked, you have to be in the United States for the dial up ISP. I don't know where you are, just letting you know that.

http://premium.neopets.com/dialup.aspx I don't know if you can access that without already having premium, but that's the dial up information front page.

http://www.VelocityISP.com is the ISP that's providing the service.

It says on the premium dial up page:

fast, reliable connections
Up to 5x faster than dial up (must use an accelerator - only bad for uploading images)
up to 5 accounts at Neopets (you and your sis could share the cost?)
junkmail, spam and virus filtering
pop-up blocker
2500 neopoints for trying, 1000 neopoints every month you keep it

I just did a search for phone numbers in my area, there are 4, one just for my specific area which I found interesting.

Support hotline is 1-877-Neopian if you can and want to call to see if you can get more info. (again, U.S. only). There is also techsupport @ neomail.com, you might try that if any of you are out of the country.

I am NOT trying to push premium, just in case anyone thinks so. I am trying to give some information so that people, if they have questions, have at least some idea of what this is all about and have a phone number so they can get more information.

I do live in the us so that won't be a problem. As for cost neither my sister or I have a job at the moment, but I have a checking account with money stored from when I did have one. I was looking into splitting the cost with my dad, but he is hesitent to switch providers because he does not want to change his email address, etc. He also informed me we do have the unlimited service on our dial-up, although I wasn't aware of it at the time.

Also, being the only person playing neopets most the time, what would I do with the other accounts? Would they let me play games on them provided I don't "share" between them?

And no that page doesn't let me see anything. It directs me to here:

Butterfly, you don't need the dial up package then. What you could do, if you decided to sign up for Premium is just downgrade to the $7.99 portal pack. You could put your sister's account as the alias. Neither of you would have ads, could both use the premium board, the portal ... I'm not sure about the email on alias.

I'm with your dad on not wanting to switch things around unless it was really necessary

well, a friend was nice enough to refer me, she did if for most of the members of our guild actually, even though most of us probably won't get it.

i was just wondering how long people have to actually take up the trial offer, my exams are coming up and frankly i won't have any time to really enjoy the access and stuff.

personally i doubt i'ld get it, i like in australia and don't work, and i serously doubt i would be able to convince my parents to pay for something which my mother views as "immature fun" she still lets me though :P. but if you have to pay us.. exchange rates are unpredictable to a degree.. *sigh*

My sentiments exactly! I've got an invite too but I don't know if I'll be able to take it up until at least the next few weeks are over (exams!) and even then I'm not sure if I'll be able to buy it.

Eek, you can't do that. From what I've read you must not have another person's main account as your alias - no game playing or anything like that is allowed on the alias, it's meant only for a side account.

That's what the premium folks told me on the premium neoboard anyway, if that isn't the case then please set me straight =)

It seems logical that you wouldn't be able to play games on the other one. Afterall, if it is an alias then theoretically it is another of your accounts and the appearance of neopoints being made on both of them would be that it looks like you're using additional accounts to earn neopoints - not good.

You've probably been swamped, but I referred you anyways. :P

Also, I agree it is kind of unfair about the sidebar/avatar..
