Here's hoping they take those opinions on board because seriously, if they do I am signing up

Credit to jellyneo for all that =)
There is a Board on PPT about the same thing:

Yes but this was a focus group with an attending Neopets representative from what I coud see, who also suggested the possibility of game hints and avatar solutions along with adding more features to the Neomail service like webspace and a blog like Livejournal

Trick's right, people in the LA area were invited to come meet with Premium reps to share their ideas and opinions about the service. I think it's great, it shows they're really interested in what we want out of Premium. Hopefully some of those ideas will be implemented and they'll release Premium for everyone.

I know what you mean... Adam has got loads of NP

Ahem. I'm going to say this whenever I see a post like this. The "caring" part doesn't really apply, but the rest does.
winter wrote:I find it rather stereotypical and also rather prejudiced of some people to simply say Neopets doesn't care about it's users as a whole. I believe Adam and Donna truely and sincerely care about their users. Do you think they wanted the banners ads all over the site? Do you think Adam, Donna, the wonderful programmers, the under-paid monitors, and the fantastic artists are all in it for the money? Heck, they've said many times that they're underpaid. So it's obviously not all for the money.
If you want to blame the advertisements, the uncaring stereotype, and the "it's all for the money!" belief on someone, blame it on Doug Dohring, NOT TNT as a whole. I think it's extremely offensive, rude, and puts them down when they've had absolutely nothing to do with some of the money decisions that occur.
I am not directing this at anyone personally, but I always hate to see when people are degrading TNT's reputation and blaming all of the money making on them.

Here's a snippet from an article.
Neopets declines to say how much General Mills, the maker of Lucky Charms cereal, paid for the brand exposure in the game. Online ads contribute 60% of Neopets' annual revenue, which is in the "eight figures," says Doug Dohring, Neopets' chairman and chief executive.
Offline businesses contribute the remaining 40%. Retailers such as Target Corp. sell Neopets plush toys, trading cards and jewelry. McDonald's Corp. gave away Neopets toys and cards with Happy Meals last year. Sony Corp. is developing a Neopets videogame for its PlayStation 2 and PSP consoles. Neopets is talking to game makers about delivering Neopets characters to cellphones, and in what may be its biggest partnership yet, the company says it is close to a deal with a Hollywood studio for a computer-animated Neopets movie.
I apologise if this is too deep.

Recently, I have come onto this boar,d not just this thread in general, but all of General Chat, and I have been seeing nothing but slander against Neopes. Stop it. Neopets are doing a good job, and if they decided to up and leave now, what would you do? They are trying their best to try and keep the site up and running. They are not lazy, they are not exacting and they are not trying to steal your money. They are putting as much effort it they can into the site.
Each day, you are being given news. This news has required work from so many people. If a new shop opens, then the artists must design all the items. The programmers must programme the restocking times and frequencies of items and the translators must put it into 6 different languages. Is this lazy? If they create a new petpet, the artists must design it, the programmers must align it to a shop, give it a rarity and then the translators must put the name and description into other languages.
There are goodness knows how many servers transferring goodness knows how many megabytes of bandwidth they use per hour. Imagine how many staff members they are employing as well. They need money. Despite what you guys say, Neopes is a business, and though it is providing us a service, it must still make money to pay wages and for maintenance of the servers and computers. How do you expect Neopets to make money? Use Neopoints to pay for the servres. They need income. They are getting it with the ads. If you use premium, then they can get the money another way, but otherwise, grow up. Saying that Neopets are 'money greedy' becuase they have adverts is just the same as saying that marshmallows are 'money greedy' because they are made to be addictive.

You missed the point. -_- What I was attempting to say is that it's not "The Neopets Team" as a whole, it's Doug Dohring. Do you think that the artists get to choose where they'd like to place all the ads over the site? It's rude and sad when people blame them as a whole for the poor decisions on upper management. They have absolutely no say in the financial side of Neopets. Only the upper management.
And as you've proved with your article snippet, yes: Doug Dohring is in it for the money. He doesn't care about the site's quality or longetivity.

Exactly. People seem to forget that Adam and Donna don't own Neopets anymore. They're in charge of the creative aspects of the site, and that's it.

Neopets is a company, a coorporation. I don't work there, and as far as I know neither do you, so none of use can specifically assign blame on any one particular instance removing any hint of misplaced culpability. I don't know if it's Bob's fault that such and such wasn't done. I don't know if the Grey techo is awful because so and so was pushing a 5 minute time table upon an artist. As a consumer it's not my business to know the working of a company like the back of my hand and I certainly don't want to. I'm not barring Dohring from responsibility, but the thing about TNT as individuals is what little they share on site, here and other forums. I think the point you're missing is that we have no way of knowing anymore than "Neopets" wants us to and because of this Neopets Team as a whole is reponsible. That's how it is for any company.
