Question: Do you think it's possible for them to change a pet name/username? I always wondered that, because I always wished I could change my pets names, but I wondered if it would mess up the entire system.

I would think it would be possible if the ids of the usernames and pets were number based (like in phpBB userids and names.) Since it seems more dependant on the actual names I'd doubt it would be (hence why pets/usernames with bad names are simply deleted.)

It's a matter of motivation -- it's possible to update the petname / username references in all related tables. You can also have dual indexes: a primary userid, and a secondary unique username/petname .

In response to the Pet Moving System...

Think about people selling their pets.

I did, which is why I mentioned that concern and a solution at the bottom of the page. ;)

Transfers can be limited to accounts that belong to the same user, verified by them having the same email upon signup...while it's true a person could change their email, and possibly one to which is not theirs, the risk involved with that would force the pet sellers to stick with the pound....(which is what they've been doing for ages anyway).

Just because of a few bad apples, I don't see why the whole bunch shouldn't have the right to move thier pets safely. Those twerps will still be selling pets regardless, but making the email tie-in option mandatory will ensure they'll mostly be forced to stick with pound like they've already been doing.

Even if they could, there is no matter of fair or not fair. Adam has 5 pets, is that fair? They are the site staff, of course they get additional functions which normal users don't.

Whatever TNT tries to do about stopping the selling/lending pets, it will be done anyway. Why not make it easy for the people with a good reason to want to switch their pets around? It would eliminate a ton of harassment reports, legit or false, if you could choose what account a pet goes to. Imagine no whining about 'pound sitters' who keep pets they get legally in the pound because you can't lose a pet moved with the Moving System. This could help adoption agencies as well. I was thinking about a system where TNT sent an e-mail to each account and the process would begin after both parties confirm the switch, like when you sign up to see if the e-mail is active you have to click the link in the e-mail. The only flaw is that people that lend pets still take the risk of losing pets to people who don't give them back which, again, happens regardless.

Yes, I recently lost a grey pet because my computer froze on me during the switch, luckily the girl turned out to be nice and will take good care of my pet. Normally I do pretty well and I probably would have gotten my pet with no problem. I guess I could be a little biased, but I think it just makes sense to have a way for people to move pets around.

Tell me what good reasons there are.

I have a Usuki gallery. A year or two ago, the lab had turned one of my pets into a Robot Usul, so I had a friend who I trust help me transfer the pet over to my usuki gallery account. I also have a evil gallery, and if the lab turned my lab pet something that would fit in well with that theme, I would like to be able to move say my speckled Lenny to the main account and move the pet that would fit in with an evil theme to the gallery. Right now all three accounts have four pets and none of them I would wish to lose switching from one account to the other.

I have a few...

1. I'm an avatar collector. All four of my acaras are painted, and have petpets and petpetpets attached. Because I don't wish them changed, I'm locked out of all new species avatars, including the lenny one from last night. And because of my petpetpets that (STILL) can not be removed, if I try to switch out a petpet to get a new petpet avatar, my petpetpet attached will go poof into oblivion if I try to give it a snicklebeast or mazzew or whatever to earn a new avatar.

2. I also have a lab ray which I paid big bucks for that I haven't been able to use for the same reason. It would be nice to get to use it (and get the pwned avatar from it).

3. My gallery pet is lonely, and would love some company occasionally.

4. I'm trying to train my pet JubiNumo to the 200 strength boost now that I've upgraded her weapons, but with faerie quest and k-quest rewards and terror trove level rewards being 100% random to which pet it goes, I am losing TONS of stats and money with my 4 pets than I would if I had just one pet (where the stats would go to). There is nothing more irritating spending 80k on a faerie queen quest only for her to add all those stats to one of my non-battle pets.

I've got other reasons too, but I just woke up and am too sleepy to think of the rest, but those are the main reasons.

I think with as much work as I put into my pets, I deserve the right to put them on my gallery account safely, without having to "risk them" and have some pound-sitter who put NO effort into my pets reap the rewards they bring.
