4 is death in Chinese too, you never say, write or type 4 on Chinese New Year, it's very bad luck.
Many people who weren't "famous" or "popular" did end up being affected by 4/4/04 by the way.
But really, I have faith in TNT that they will do everything they can to ensure that nothing like that ever happens again.

Nothing happened on March 3, 2003 except that Neopets released the rainbow toilet that day. The really bad stuff happened on April 4, 2004--when the password glitch occurred. Who the heck knows what will happen on May 5, 2005 and on June 6, 2006--and why bother worrying about it? All of that worry and stress could kill you.

If it is, I think its rather intentional, because the date is 444, and 444 if pronounced in japanese sounds like death so...
O.o Jumpin lizards. Sounds kind of like one of those predictions of the end of the world and it has some kind of involvment with superstitious numbers.

I know that this event was bad, but I really hate when people compare this to 9-11. At the old NNN, everyone made a joke about it, and it really angered me. Sure, half the world says we deserved 9-11, but it was still a horrible tradgety and comparing it to a mere internet site (those who know me know that referring to neopets as 'just a site' is not at all like me) and saying that it was was 'just as bad' or 'worse' is very wrong, in my opinion.
Nobody compared it to 9/11 I don't think...

It's even more sad when people compare the loss of a few kilobytes of data with the loss of life. Nothing pains me more than seeing those people choosing to jump to their death instead of burning in the smoldering wreckage... And here we have people comparing 4/4 to such a tragedy when all they lost was something that they could easily have acheived in a few months on their SPARE TIME. It's ungrateful, it's insensitive, and it's simply idiotic.
Thank God my dad stopped working at the Pentagon.
