You're right Rune...I just sent a PM to Jas apologizing. I got so wrapped up, I forgot that not everyone on here is an adult. :( Dumb me.

Maybe if there are some TNT staffers lurking, and they want our help, we can take this to PM instead.

Very sorry, I really should have thought twice....

EDIT: I see TNT has frozen the last batch I put up now....so there is no use for them up now anyhow.

Morningstar, do you, by any chance, think the ones we are posting are bad?

They are obviously offensive.. Novody makes these names if they really wanna play neo..

Sure, many are old. None are actually that active. I think what we are doing is the right thing to do.

And I just want your opinion.

Yes, I do. I just wanted to point out that there was one that had been around for awhile--and it is an active account--I bought a negg out of it today.

And, I'd like to point out the nword has stood for next word for a long time--anyone in computer programming knows what I mean. It is also a game. And, I remember a time when a man's name that rhymes with Rick and begins with the letter D was not offensive--Nixon had that name as does Mr. Van Dyke.

So, if there are two meanings to the word, unlike the usernames that you and Val posted, perhaps Neo should give the player the benefit of the doubt--and at least allow him to change the name rather than freeze the account.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

I have one... so if TNT wants it... it's quite bothersome.

I actually really really know a guy called Richard Head.

Anyway... Maybe Australia has a different racial mix but I can't for the life of me work our what nword might mean. I would hate to have created that account and not known the word.. it really could happen to some people.

Good luck getting unfrozen.

What? You just got ICEd because of that? I still don't know what's so wrong about that name personally? I'm just thinking "Oh, there's an N. I'll ignore that." And I never really noticed the word in the word...o_o

Oh well. Sure a bad SEASON.

Good luck getting your account back. It astounds me that long standing accounts can suddenly be found to have an "innapropriate" username or pet name. This isn't the first time it's happened. I know 2 people with accounts over 2 years old that were frozen for "innapropriate" usernames. One of them, part of the name was the same word as an item on the site - and that item still has the same name. That person did finally get their account back, but it was a fight. The other person? never got their account back and it's a shame, cause that person was great, very helpful, funny and polite.

Then there was a person who was frozen for putting their real name on their lookup - and their real name was something similar to the person you knew, cyleigh. How awful to be frozen for having an innapropriate Real Life name!

I still can't figure out how some people are able to create accounts and/or pets with certain names or words in them. They're using words definitely NOT allowed on the site. Seems there should be a filter that stops you from creating using a bad word. Not freezing, just a message that such and such word is not allowed on the site.

I would never have thought of the n in your username as anything to be honest. I just thought you were referencing a book, a character, part of your real name or just thought up something random you liked.

I always pronounced "nword" so that it rhymes with "lord".

Hm... funny, the Neopets "sword" had their owner frozen... And swords are so common on Neopets! And my search came up with 35 Sword items.

Same here. I'm really sorry you got frozen, Lord Nword :( I seriously had to sit and think, trying to work out what the "n word" could be (it was only the african american comment that cleared it up for me) - it's the most ridiculously inoffensive username, how absurd.

Did you take the bit about your birthday and sarcasm out of your email though? Because if I'd been TNT, I'd have unfrozen you, but that comment annoyed me a bit, heh. I always put my TNT cap on when I read freezing emails - you have to think how you'd respond to it if you were in a position to help or ignore it, and the sarcastic bit might hinder your case.

Same here.

So sorry your account got frozen. I have to agree that it seems rather foolish to freeze accounts of longstanding players for "innapropriate usernames" if it was such a problem why does it take years for them to decide this??

A guy I know got his account frozen for using his last name. Still frozen too, after many a letter. It's sad. The person I am playing against in Geo's monthly is called Jinglenuts(with a number following). My sister said "Ew! Report him for that name." I say ...NO! What's wrong with it?

Well, some people use "Nuts" to refer to a certain...male body part.

As I said before, if the word has two meanings, Neo should give you the benefit of the doubt. If non-Americans haven't a clue as to its meaning, then there are a whole lot of players out there who may accidentally use it, not knowing it is a forbidden word. This isn't a site limited only to the U.S., but is accessed by many, many countries.

It would be quite nice to have a list of all forbidden words.

What I find truly amazing is that it is being used for one of the NAACP's website: http://www.nword.com. The NAACP is an association in the United States for the advancement of african-americans (the cp stands for "colored people"). And, that organization is one that I always respected. But, to see that word picked by that organization to represent their website, I can only shake my head and wonder why.

The NAACP is too radical, in my opinion. Please don't misunderstand that- I have nothing against the cause of promoting racial equality, it's just that I believe the means by which some organizations try to achieve their goals are simply over the line (If you haven't already, read PETA's statement about last year's misunderstanding with Steve Irwin and his baby son being held near a crocodile).

I think the reason why the domain name is for the NAACP is for this: Consider Neopets- It buys out many servers, perhaps to prevent confusion or misspellings, and often to prevent discrimination or hate sites, as well- http://www.*&^#neopets.com (The symbols representing a certain other set of letters), for example, actually leads you right to Neopets' home page. So to keep the domain "nword" from being used for negative purposes, the NAACP snatches it up.

Morningstar,

Since I know you're an adult...I'll send you the webpage with the huge list of banned words my friend Dave and I worked on. I wouldn't want to subject everyone to it, so I'm sending it by PM.

The big list is separated into two parts...banned words, and ones we were shocked WEREN'T banned. These words apply to the neoboards as well. Because of the nature of the page, the page is password protected. But I'll send the link that gets past the password or just pm you the password too. ;)
