it's cute the first time or two you get it (and when you get the avatar for it), but it loses its appeal when it constantly gets zapped into soot and then sits and does nothing else of interest. I am zapping petpets (although I don't post here) but I still enjoy my petpet being zapped into a pile of soot. It had been zapped into soot for like half a dozen times and I still love the soot!

But... nothing happens. It makes a kind of 'zzrrrppptttt' sound before shutting down completely. The creepy Kookith shoos you away and appears quite angry, so you hightail it out of there before he shoots some miniature laser beam at you or something.

The ray produces a giant flash of light, but Times New Roman doesn't look any different. When it can't even climb the Multi-level Scratching Post you bought it, you realize that malfunctioning lab ray actually decreased its level to: 5

Ah then, I am glad for you - and I'm not being sarcastic. Pretty much anyone else I've spoken to or read are finding it frustrating that there are not enough species changes (and the soot is the 'species' we see the most, therefore we tire of it quickest). It *is* cute. We (or at least I) just want to see something else from time to time

Actually, I don't really mind ANY species change; I only get frustrated when the ray goes zzzrrrpppttt and level change (up or down). Which means, I only care about appearance.

Nothing looks different about Times New Roman but you can sense something happened. It becomes evident later when it tries to climb a tree but breaks off the branch instead. The ray has increased its level to: 6
