You most likely won't get frozen for hoarding an item, hoarding items is fine, but if you were to try and fake people out by saying 'Theres an extremely rare bottle of sand avatar', now that would be false inflation, and you could get warned, possibly frozen, depending on the mood TNT is in.

As it is, its a bad idea to do false inflation, its an unwritten rule, such as covering up your lookup, or anything of that sort. :)

Well, artifical inflation is a form of cheating, since you're benefiting yourself and only a small group of friends at the expense of others.

So, in theory, Capitalists are cheaters because a company gets money that the another companies could have gotten? I'm not trying to disagree with you, I'm just saying that it would be a very entrepreneurial move to artificially inflate the price of an item. Ofcourse, you can't have a monopoly (possesion of all of an item) because that's when you're cutting people off.

As long as you don't have all of an item it should be completely fair.

see! someone else understands where im coming from. I've accepted the fact that TNT wouldn't like the idea, but what im trying to say is that it isn't cheating, maybe immoral if you stretch it a bit, but not cheating.

No. Do they find a popular item on the market (like snowblowers) and drive up the price, so they could sell them for more profit? If they do they're a weird company. It wouldn't be considered cheating in that setting, per se, but it would still cause tons of problems.

Plus, this is a game we're talking about here, not real life. There are certain mechanics in Neopets that can't really be related to IRL. The thing about inflating items is based off of fairness; it's only going to benefit a few people. Plus it is against moral ethics, since you are tricking people into buying the overpriced item. Yes, you could say that it's not fair that some of the richer Neopians hoard their riches, but they got their money and items fair and square (or they should have), unlike you, since you had to attempt to mess around with the market a bit.

I won't stop you from trying to pull this off, but don't come crying to me when you feel it bite your rear.

um just wondering how were you planning on stopping me??
and if you think that only a wierd company would jack up the price of a limited comodity, have you seen the gas prices lately. and yes neopets is a game, but its a game where you are allowed to choose how you win, wether it be battledome superiority, having the greatest home, having the biggiest shop... its completely open ended. i personally choose to amass wealth if i become a heartless scrooge well if we've learned anything from reading books than some ghosts will come along and tell me im wrong.

Oh, so it's ok to do because it's only a little bit wrong instead of a lot wrong? Yes, you're right, that's much better.

The only thing that would stop you is:
A. Your Moral Fiber
B. TNT, Forcefully

I really hope for your sake it's the first option.
I don't have any hatred towards people who do it, I might even try it with some inexpensive items, but i'm never going to take away someone's hopes for a paint brush or such because i'm greedy.
Common Sense and Virtue should govern your actions, offline and online.

Right.
Well we can't stop you from doing it, however it can't be planned out here, nor is a conversation on whether or not it is right or wrong going to continue; because TNT has made it clear enough in the past by freezing those who follow this behaviour.

5. Do not post or link to anything that goes blatantly against the Neopets Terms and Conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, information on how to cheat on Neopets, information on how to hack someone’s Neopets account, requests for a neositter or offering neositting services, any request for anyone’s Neopets password, links to autobuyers or other programs that “help” you play games or do Neopets activities, or any scams, cheats, or hacks. To clarify, asking if something is against the Terms and Conditions is fine (we all know it can be vague on many topics), but a post saying “I cheat on the flash games, here’s instructions on how to do it!” is not.
