No, no, if I see a painted pet in the pound, and I miss them, I usually like to congratulate the new owner, by mailing them, by looking the pet up. I also ask them if they were doing a transfer, and most of the time, I get a no.

Your statements just changed.
You said positivly the first time, meaning in my eyes at least; that 100 percent of these pets weren't transfers.
But also, they could have been at the pound too, looking for pets. They still may have been meant to be transfers, but they could just have been picked up by other people.

Eh? I never put a percentage, I never said how many exactly, but most of them.

Yeah I agree...but I still like adopting them, for some reason.

And it also says selling Neopets to other people is a freezable offence., transfering pets is not a crime, as long as you don't make a deal, such as a trade, or paying for them :)

There was one day I was at the pound and there were 5, or so limited/painted pet in the few minutes I was there.

I'm also another that likes to pick up abandoned pets, lab ray them till they are painted and send them back so someone who can't afford to paint a pet can have one.

It's still foolish though, and frankly, I doubt anybody using the pound for such an operation isn't already aware of the risk that they may lose their pet when they enter such a venture.

Its actually not that hard to do, I do it quite often, I move my pets from account to account, never mistransfered before.

Eeek, I haven't tried that yet, and I've played for years. I'd probably like to transfer two pets from my main account to my secondary one. At least fellow PPTers are helpful about transfers - I've seen threads for that famous link one's supposed to use for best results. :)

I've adopted one pet from the pound - but he was just a yellow kougra. For me, the best criteria is the name of the pet, because if I want them to be a certain species or colour, I figure I can do that. But the pound really is a great place to find beautiful pets!!! :D

i've seen a lot of painted pets lately, but i never got them..i dont really care for painted pets, unless it's like super duper cool looking, like if it was faerie or darigan

I'm another person who has the lab ray and does the adopt, zap until painted and release, then start over. It's fun, I feel like it gives people and pets a chance.

Bluebird, when I'm adopting a new lab pet, I don't look at the species, I look for a good name too. I figure that way, no matter what changes the lab makes, the name will still suit the pet, and good names just tend to get adopted faster. People really should think about what they name their pets!

Yeah, a name like 13345466624 won't do much good unless the pet is painted with an amazing colour :(

I like to own painted pets just for the sake of it.... But I don't adopt them from pound, I zap them myself on my spare account, or I get them from the adoption thread here :)

Why would anybody abandon a baby kyrii with a painted petpet anyway? The owner might've been hacked or something....

I occationally go to the pound for a new lab rat, and yeah there are alot of nice painted pets there. I've seen a christmas koi, ghost pets, even a pea chia to name a few. most have horid names though and weak stats, so I never pick them up. but if that stuff doesn't bother you, definately try it out.. as mentioned its cheaper than painted them yourself and quite easy as long as you have a fast connection

There are some nice people out there who lab pets untill they are painted, and then put them up for adoption.... Just look at the adoptions thread on the top of this board...

I myself am a little paranoid about putting painted pets through a tranfer... I did it twice just fine... But I have been planning it again with a grey koi, and well, there are some pretty quick people out there.

That's what I do. I usually get a pet from the pound which is just a normal unlimited boring pet. I feed it, heal it and then zap it until it turns into something cool. Then I put it back in the pound.

Right now I only adopt species that have an avatar colour. Once they change species, I put them back in the pound, all healthy and with much better stats that is. :)

While I think the people who adopt pets, zap them, and put them back in the pound are doing a very sweet thing, I just never really understood the fixation people have with adopting painted pets from the pound.

I may be taking this a bit too far (I'm probably going to get a ton of "It's just an online game comments"), but my pets are very personal to me. From the time I create them, they're special. So what if they're painted? When I do finally earn enough np to paint them, they're made that much more special. I invested the time and effort to make them what they are. Adopting them without putting in any work just cheapens the whole experience for me. Sure they're pretty, but they don't mean anything.

My first pet was a blue uni. Sure she was only blue, but I adored her. It took me over a year to earn an island p/b for her, but after that I just had this wonderful sense of accomplishment when I looked at her. It was like... look what I did. A personal achievement. Adopting pets from the pound doesn't give you that... it just gives you something to show off. Pets aren't "hood ornaments". They're the focal point of the site, and I think it's sad that people don't take pride in painting their pets themselves anymore.

*ducks*

Well I do the zap and pound myself. Usually I make a board saying it's going in in 2 mins or something. Or I just say send me a mail asking for it and I'll put it in when I can...

Actually today I found an island quiggle in the pound :D I don't usually adopt anything I see there. Since chances are I've allready got/had that pet. But I wanted that av :P

I'll be shoving her back in again soon too :)

About the last comment on your pets characters being special. I like that. But also an adopted pet can be the same? Some people make lovely applications to adoption guilds with art and poetry. It makes me feel good giving someone who badly wanted say a poogle their dream pet. Most of the time the new owner has created a personality for the pet and spend lots of np on it. One girl I gave a cybunny to has done lots of art with her and put her in the BC.

I do get you though on unpaintedness. I've got a couple of unpainted pets who I will never paint. Since they are meant to be that way... No PB on neo could possibly look how my art depicts some of me neos!

But I do take pride in painting them myself. Since the lab and pound adopting can't give the pet the right name and paint job together. Speaking of which. I have a uni morph and a brown PB to buy for my shirehorse, because I turned her into an elephant :o :P *Likes Shirehorses lots*

me too, I've done this for over a year now and I've got a few pretty good pets out of it.
