I e-mailed TNT 3 times over the past two months and I haven't gotten 1 reply. Not even an automated one. the reasonis because they get over 60,000 members each day. what is that compared to 1 nobody that was frozen

Well, here's my two cents. Being the ripe old age of forty-something, I can only say that what you are talking about is out there--everywhere you go. Corporations rule and have for years and years. Neopets is no different. They aren't in this to help us out or be nice or whatever sweet thoughts you may think, they are in it to make money. As is virtually every business you ever will step your foot into--the ma and pa drycleaners you go to is in it to make money, the natural herb store you go to is in it to make money, the corner coffee shop is in it to make money. So why should Neopets be any different?

Sure, I gripe about Neopets--mainly, because I think they could do a much better job in the public relations department and could add computer software to recapture error messages (and therefore, give lost items back to owners), but overall, it is a decent, relatively safe site. And, despite being decent and safe, it still offers a lot of "bang" for the buck. Like Disneyworld without having to fly there.

And, without Dohring's investment of capital, this site would be nothing like it is today. I can't think of any other free site that offers this many games, challenges, and activities and appeals to so many people of different ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. And, Dohring took a risk back when he first invested--this type of internet activity could have easily crashed and burned--instead of taking off like it did.

I may not always like what the "suits" do in Neopets, but I must admit that Dohring is one heck of a businessman.

o_O A research falcilty? Err, mabye I shouldn't leave a comment...

OK, I will. Of course we never got to see the site without that guy around, but it DOES cost money to run a site. It's not like "Oh, look at me! I've got a great idea and it's going to cost me NOTHING!!!" Then the next thing you know, bills. $384193 to be exact (OK, that's actually me typing in 6 random numbers, so you can ignore that value). So THAT'S why they have all that rubbish running around. Money. They're a business. A business that is greedy. Greedy as the Muffin Man (don't ask :P). And yeah, mabye Adam and Donna ARE living in cat infested apartments... along with the grumpy old man that pushes your door down, asks for rent, and adds damages for the door along with that :roflol:

Yes, I'm aware that it should say Advance, not Color, but I didn't have a font close enough to Advance

Hmm...

1. He may have trademarked the name Immersive Advertising, but he certainly did NOT invent product placement. In fact there is more advertising in your everyday life than you will ever see on Neopets. I have a friend who's one of the producers of a very popular show -the number of companies that send them products just 'hoping' they will be shown on the program would boggle your mind. Look around you.

2. Please present some facts rather than just your guestimates. Your post was nothing but emotions and gobbledygook.

3. Can you share with everyone your business education and/or experience so that we can know where you are coming from?

4. If not for Dohring's ability to turn Neopets profitable (which he did in 3-4 months, wow!), you would be off complaining about something else because Neopets would not exist. Two college kids just would not have had the financial ability to grow the company enough to keep up with their users.

5. Adam and Donna live in Jelly World, duh! Everyone knows that!

6. Bleh.

Well you're right, they don't care if they are inactive.

Over half of them frozen? That's greatly exaggerated.

And it's not about who's in their databases, it's about how many pageviews they get.

And, though I am no mod, I'm just going to advise you to stop double posting. It'll get you in trouble.

Well, the number they have is ridiculous! If I'm exagerrating then look at them.

Lol, well I'm only 14. I was just letting out some steam. I realize that without Dohring Neopets wouldn't exist, but I just don't agree with everything he does. He is a smart businessman though. I just think Neopets should be more about quantity then quality. I know they need to make money but they are going a little overboard.

Look at them where? There is no way of knowing how many people are frozen. The reality is, the number isn't that big. And chances are many people deserve it anyway. The number of wrongfully frozen people isn't that large compared to the number of rightfully frozen people and the number of non-frozen people.

Well if someone is premanently frozen or frozen for over one year then why aren't they deleted? What is the point of taking of those usernames for new people? It's to show sponsors how big Neopets is.

Eh, I've thought about this issue lately and come to the conclusion that, well, you get what you pay for.

I mean, what do you want for free? Your money back?

However, I must add, I do not think that any of the corporate heads are living in apartments with cats and forced to eat tuna fish (you didn't think I'd remember that one, eh?)--unless that is their ideal dream in life.

The Neo corporate heads are making money--but they do deserve to make money, don't they? After all, no one is complaining that the heads of Honda, Kraft Foods, General Mills, Wal-Mart are making money--yet we use their products just the same.

It would be nice if a little of that money went to improving their customer service. But, I will never forget what james_bone007 once said: They make up the rules. If you don't like the rules, you don't have to play.

Maybe you're unaware, but just as recently as 2 months ago or so they did delete all the inactive accounts and pets. It's not about numbers, it's about pageviews.

And you said in your post you want it to be about Quantity and not Quality? Are you sure? I'd much perfer quality. And I think that we do get pretty much most of both worlds. They update every day, and they are constantly doing things to improve (the new sidebar, reorganizing things, new pets).

And, once again, you're double posting. I think a mod already warned you.

Heres a poem to Mr. Dohring.

I once knew a guy named Doug,
on his head he could balance a mug!
He worked at Neopets,
with or without any regret.
He liked to party at night,
and he would get drunk and fight;
He turned Neopets into what it is today
I think its a-OKAY!
But now the servers are down,
and on my face is a big fat frown.
Mr. Dohring has let us down,
let's make him wear a wedding gown!

You have a good point. You never really have to pay for Neopets so u can't really complain. After all they do own your account from the time you create it to when it is frozen and on. But, I'm just stating my opinion and so are you. Thanx for replying.

Actually, there's a whole lot of complaining about the great Wal*Mart of China and what it's doing to the U.S. and even world economy in many circles, both business and academic.

Well, Donna does have cats.

And still, I disagree with the argument that Donna and Adam are rich. Sure, Doug and the other corperate heads are probably rich, but Neopets isn't the only thing they are involved in. Donna and Adam may not be poor, but I'd highly think that they are as rich as people say they are.
