yes I agree, the prices are likely to continue increasing so the sooner you buy it, the better.

It cost me 50K for my first set (long time ago) and recently for 150K, but I refreshed for cheap pieces for a couple weeks.

well, if you can afford it, go for it. My str has gone up about 35, my def. about 10, my level has gone down about 17, my move has gone up about 30 (even though it doesn't matter), and my hp has gone up by over 100! All that was in about a year. It is worth it!

Lab maps now cost 560-570k. (Sometimes you can find a deal at 550k) But prices will never go down. Ever. They might drop slightly, say 10k or so, but they have never dropped in price significantly, and they will never drop in price. My advice is, if you want to lab, buy the map NOW, since it goes up about 10k every week. However, you can buy a full set for about 540k in the shops, but be prepared to spend about an hour finding all the cheapest pieces. No matter what, do NOT buy from just one shop, as most of those will run you 580k or more.

Now, as to it's value, the lab ray is just about priceless. You can get almost any color, and any species, as well as being able to gain stats. (yes, you can lose them, too, but if you lab long enough you gain) After about a month the lab pays for itself, especially if you get a really great color/species.

meh....i'm deabating on ever getting the lab ray myself, and heres why:

I don't want to change most of my pets, my 4 pets are as follows:

Blue_dragon_flyer_20: I already plan to paint her somthing blue orianated, hence her name, and logiclly, since she's my battler, she would be a good one to lab, but of course, the lab ray tends to change species and color, which is not somthing I want to change with her. I don't really want her to be any other species of dragon-like pet, EXCEPT mabye a draik, but even so....

Dies_Cado is a sort of secondary batteler of mine, he isn't my main fighter, but he can fight...(i've trained him some) however, he is already painted shadow, which is the only color I will EVER paint him, as it matches his name. so i'm never going to lab him.


Trunkz_luv: Yes, i KNOW the name is ridiculous, blame my friend. see, on my originol acount, my friends created and named my first pet, as i wasn't alowed on at the time.(parents....>_>) Now I have transfered over that pet(she's a green ashia) now, although i woudn't mind as much as most of my pets if she got labbed, i have my heart set on a darigan ashia, which is the pb i'm saving up for, so if i labbed her, if her species was changed, I wouldn't be to happy. >_>

(btw, in case anyon is wondering about her odd name...it helps if you've seen dragon ball z. O_o)

the ONLY pet i MAY lab, other than luv, is my last pet, a blue poogle named Blue_pooch_20. Why would I lab a poogle? 'cause i don't really care for poogles, regardless of being LE. of course, there is the name problem...but there are a couple other "doggy" pets out there, which is good.

I love the lab ray. I got a lot of dream pets from it.

ALIEN AISHA! Robot buzz, Faerie buzz, Robot kougra, Robot kyrii, Purple jetsam.

Best of all was getting my robot aisha. Since I made him in the hopes he would turn robot (Even was prepared to buy v-expensive morphing potions to change him back should he turn into a kiko or something!). Out of sheer luck he never changed species. He turned striped, mutant, faerie then ALIEN!

Unfortunately my koi didn't have that much luck. He changed into a girl, then green, then into a kau! But then she turned faery. So I gave her to my little brother.

But now I have my dream pet the alien aisha. I don't care for paint brushes or anything anymore. I would have paied millions to make him alien and my sheer luck he is. So now all I have to do is train him, buy him lots of stuff ect... ^_^

If you definately want your lupe halloween. I'd say buy the paint brush. Since it's cheaper. But if you just want to experement with a few pets and see if you get something cool then I say go for it. It's fun and very very rewarding should you get a rare colour. Although personaly I find it takes ages for stats to really be worth it. Even then it gets annoying since they tend not to be very even if you intend on battling. Also the level allways goes down often which makes regular training very hard.

You have only have had 5 color changes? I got it in June, before they released the avatar. Mine started as a red usul...

I have had:

A striped usul
A mutant usul
A yellow chia
A green lupe
A werelupe (forgot to get the av )
A blue kau (have it now)

plus countless stat changes (most for the better)

All my pets are painted expensive, so I might as well not, and Hazard_Hero will get a head start with his high stats from the shrine and training school.

Maybe I'll get a Kougra then Boochi zaps me into baby. The baby pets are cute.

I'm already a halloween lupr, got the av, not its a matter of finding the right trade.

When I got the lab map with my first account, I decided to adopt a pet from the pound to work with.. And Hebefred was my pride and joy. It's worth it for the stats if nothing more. Don't worry about levels too much unless you intend to send the pet to the academy.

I paid around 100k for it at the time. The beautiful thing is that you "should" only need to buy it once to be able to use it forever with that account.

secret labs are fun! they give you something to look forward to every day when you play neopets. i got a few side accounts with secret labs as well; they are perfect for making strong, painted pets.

The Lab Ray rocks. Niten turned into a Darigan Zafara from it. I lurve him and his demonness. *huggles Niten*

Of course he went through a lot of other color changes, one being a Faerie Peophin.

I remember on my first account I got the full lab set for 75k in the trades. Ah, the old times...

Only problem now is getting the lab itself. The lab maps should be worth like 1 million NP in total! After all, it'll never go away....you could make the ultimate pet!
