I just zapped a Pea Chia today

If you're a serious battler (like a BD Chatter, which I don't think you are), then you'd not want to use the lab, but rather hand train

This is true. It's the only regret that I have about my account is that I *did* lab all of my pets, and never properly trained any single one of them. I'm currently rectifying this.

I agree that having the lab ray is great fun. I finally made the plunge and bought the lab map 2 years ago (wow! 2 yrs already!) and religiously zapped my lab rat every single day for over a year. I also tracked each and every zap. The trend is that the overall changes increase the pet's HP, Strength & Movement, but decreased Defence & totally destroyed the pet's level - The Last Zap dropped my first pet's level to 1. Here's the final tally after 408 zaps:
Pet 1's Cumulative Stat Changes:
Strength: +49
Movement: +31
Defence: -15
---------------
Hit Points: +162
Level: -37
I then turned the lab ray towards a second pet and here's the tally after 76 zaps (I quit after getting a Sketch Kyrii, was a lab only pet at the time):
Pet 2's Cumulative Stat Changes:
Strength: +2
Movement: +7
Defence: -6
---------------
Hit Points: +48
Level: -10
In summary - IMHO It is worth it.. Get the map and zap away!

I also regret my decision to lab train my Kacheek. I have been evening out his stats for over a year now, and am about 240 days or so away from having his stats perfectly even

So basically, I should get a lab map

I currently have 970k. So I'll have to save around another 50k.
Again, could anyone who has a full Lab Map, please inform me. Thanks

I can't believe people are paying that much now! I got my first lab map by finding the pieces through the old treasure hunt. I paid 250k for my second and 550k for my third. And that was really hard for me to justify.
However, I still think the lab map is a staple of neopets and I can't imagine not having it. But at the price and if it is taking up all of your savings, you might want to think of why you want it. If you are targeting a specific pet, you will probably have to sink some more nps on morphing potions to achieve your goal. And you have to remember that there are colours that the lab won't give you. So if your ultimate neopets goal is to have a royal or pirate pet, save your points and keep saving because you can't lab that.
Labbing is great for collecting clothing though and is a generally fun daily. I'd say go for it, but don't be too dismayed when your first zap turns your pet into a Skeith. And keeps it that way. For months. Because that is what the lab loves to do.

Very, VERY true.
...but that is what green uni morphing potions are good for.

Very very true. One of my least favorite pets is the Lenny. (I simply don't like birds.) My lab rat was zapped into one in mid August... and I have a feeling will STAY as a stupid lenny for a few more weeks. Blech. If only it was an interesting color...
Its still worth the fun of zapping though!

You'll get a "me too" on the Skieth. My pet was a Yellow Skieth for about a month. I just couldn't take the yellow anymore and used Turnip Tonic and turned her green. Two days later she went Disco. It took another 40 days before it became a Kacheek..

Yeah, one of mine has been a Grarrl for months. On the other hand, I got a Maraquan Eyrie from the lab. You'll occasionally get some really fun zaps.

Mine was a Grarrl for a while - it was great fun feeding her
anything like the "junk" daily prizes. Then again, the Skeith would eat anything, too.

That's why I don't mind having a Grarrl or Skeith, actually...they eat anything! I have a mutant Grarrl right now, and actually have come to love it. If I ever stop zapping that pet, I may morph it back into one.

I've just offered on a full Lab Map set with what the person asked for:
430k and a Baby PB. Hope she accepts

And thanks to Regan for donating

[edit]
YAY! I got it. I'm not too sure which account to put it on though. Maybe my side?
[edit 2]
I'VE BEEN SCAMMED!!!
Sorry for the New Member CAPS LOCK - but the person who accepted my trade scammed me. He said it was a whole set. However, as you can see here:

That piece 5 and 8 look exactly alike. Piece 8 is more expensive than Piece 5 though. Therefore, he has given me two piece 5s and no piece 8s. Stupid me for not checking properly.
[edit 3]
However, in my inventory, it's in the right order (1 being first and so on) so it could be a glitch??
