For instance, my boyfriend has been looking for a Tyrannian Paint Brush since he joined (around 2 months ago). However, if I were to neomail the PB to anyone else it'd go generally unnoticed. Which, in my opinion, is just a little unfair. I mean, if you can send a gift to someone halfway around the world, why is it so wrong to send that same gift to someone who shares the same computer...?

I don't see how you can come to the conclusion that you would be frozen for giving someone on the same IP address a gift. My daughter gave me a meepit a few months back--because she knew I loved them--I turned around, and the next day, gave her an electric PB. My husband gave her 700,000 nps after her account was erroneously frozen last December. I have given her a lost desert PB and my husband has given her a baby PB. I send plushies that cost 200K to 700K to my gallery all of the time. And, no one at Neopets has said anything negative, or done anything negative, to us about any of this. Granted, Neopets is aware that we have three separate individuals in our house who all play the game--because of the email I sent when my daughter's account was frozen last December--but I still don't think the problem is as great as some of your make it out to be. Personally, I think they check for patterns--they see me playing at certain times of day, my daughter playing at certain times of day, my husband playing at certain times of day, and sometimes seeing two of us, or sometimes all three of us, playing at the same time.

Well, when you put it that way...

I d'm not sure how I came to that conclusion, honestly. I'm fairly certain it was after something I mentioned on here, about wanting to send something to my boyfriend, and someone warned me that I'd be frozen for it. After that, I got extra cautious.

But I guess, if it comes to the point where either of us is frozen for it, I could always send them an email explaining that we are, in fact, separate individuals.

So yea, thanks Morningstar, I feel much safer about sending things to and from each other now

Just don't go overboard doing it--an occasional sending of something has never gotten any of us into trouble--but if you were to send a whole bunch of expensive things all at once or every day, you might.

And, it never hurts to send the support staff an email stating that you and your boyfriend play on the same computer and have different accounts. When I sent my email to support about my daughter's account, I gave each of my family members' names, our address, our phone number, our employer's names, my daughter's school name and grade--to let them know I had nothing to hide--I wasn't some scammer kid with 15 accounts--that there were three different people in this household and, if they wanted to, they could check it out to see for themselves.

I have heard of others on PPT sending such emails like this to Neopets, also--putting Neopets on notice that there were several family members who played. One PPTer (I don't remember who) actually sent pictures of herself, her husband, and two kids--each one sitting at the computer. Just so they would know it wasn't one person with 4 accounts.

you needn't go to that extent. just ensure that your accounts have different working emails and take note of your playing/log on patterns..

Well, we do have a habit of logging in one after the other. But that's usually only weekends. In fact, most of the time, I'm the only one who logs into Neo during the week...

...HeHe. The joys of having far too much free time!

Sigh. It appears that I've lost 2... or possibly more... posts. I was up to 40 last night, now I'm back to 39. Oh well. Useless point there.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, at one point I had about 20 people playing Neo at my work (school computer lab, lots of down time) Most of us tended to use the same two computers and we sent stuff back and forth all the time, none of us ever got a warning or had a freezing happen...

I think basically the freezings for this kind of thing happen if you transfer too much- and in that case they're basically for your protection, since it could appear that you had been hacked.

Sorry to revive this semi-dead topic, but I got a response from Support today. Here's my original message:

I wrote:
I have a question on multiple accounts.

My main account has a gallery on it. This is the account were I do all my
dailies (Tombola, the Shrine, the Fruit Machine, etc), play games, buy things from shops, keep all my money, and spend about 98% of my time. Now, since I know how annoying it is to go into a gallery searching for an item to buy, I decided to use my secondary account (which was previously just used to keep another pet) as a shop. Anything of value that I win or find in my main account, I send over to my secondary account (via the option to send an item to your NeoFriend) to sell. Once I sell whatever it is, I will transfer the Neopoints back to my main account via the Trading Post.

I have been told that this is extremely risky, but I don''t see how it would be against the rules. I do not play games in my other account. I don''t play Tombola there and I usually don''t use it to buy anything (except for maybe food). So I was wondering if what I was doing is okay or not. Thank you.

And my response from Grace:

Grace wrote:
Thanks for writing. You are allowed to have up to 4 accounts if you want to own more than 4 Neopets or run a gallery, guild, or a second shop, but freebies that give out prizes like Tombola and Coltzan's Shrine can only be used once per person, regardless of how many accounts you have. So just alternate between accounts each day you use the freebies. You may switch items between accounts once in a while, just do not turn your second account into an account that gains
NeoPoints for your main account. You may also play games for NeoPoints, use the Healing Springs and get omelettes on the other accounts as long as you keep them in that account. So don't worry, if you aren't sure if you are cheating or not, you probably aren't! Thanks for writing!

If you have any other questions, don't forget to include the entire text of this e-mail with your username clearly at the top. This will help me better address your situation.

Well, she didn't really address my situation directly. It seems like I'm not supposed to use my secondary account to make NP for my main account, but then why would they allow you to use a secondary account as a shop anyway? However, I'm just going to continue what I am doing because of her "Don't worry, if you aren't sure if you are cheating or not, you probably aren't" comment. Also, if I get frozen for multiple accounts, I can simply use this e-mail in my defense.

Just thought I'd share with everyone.

By the same e-mails. That's why I think.
When I start playing neopets 4 years ago, someday, my lil sister wanted to create hers and she didn't have HotMail, but she was too young, so I putted it on mine.
Got Frozen,
Both of us.

I have got an important question:

Me and my sister both play, we have different IP's because we have more connections ( 8) :D )
All my neopoints and items go to my sisters account, we have got a couple of million neopoints and over 2600 items.

We are sharing because it's difficult for me to deal with all those things (items and neopoints), so a couple of times a week I'm giving all my neopoints except 1-2k to my sister and all items we don't have in our sdb I give to my sister.

Is there a chance we get frozen? We're doing this for a couple of years (although I have not played for a while, but since a couple of weeks more becuase of vacantion).

Because we're doing this so long I don't think it's possible they will freeze us, but we will see.

the chance to get frozen is always there no matter what you do. i think you are quite safe so long as your email addresses are different.

I'm rather confused about the part of Grace's reply that deals with playing games on a secondary account. According to her, it's fine as long as you keep the NPs in that account. But I know that there have often been references to NOT playing games on secondary acccounts. I've read before that you're only allowed to play games on your main account. Does anyone have the definitive answer for this?? o_O

Looking to buy Snowbunny Stamp and Sticky Snowflake Stamp. If you're selling, please PM me!

I thought that part was weird too. I don't play games on my secondary accounts and never will, even if I kept the money in there.

This brings up a problem though. I think the Moderators really need to communicate with each other. There seems to be a lot of "this SHOULD be fine" or "I think this" when you get answers from them.

I agree with you about the mods needing to communicate with one another. I don't know how long ago it was but I remember everconfused having a devil of a time trying to get a straight answer from any of them regarding this same subject.

And, regarding Grace saying that you can play games on more than one account, I still wouldn't. According to the TOC, you can only "earn" nps on one account--I would think that playing games would be considered to be "earning" nps. Plus, I have never heard her name mentioned before--perhaps she is new. I would hate to rely on what a new staff person said, get frozen for it, and then have a more experienced mod say "Sorry, you won't be unfrozen. Grace simply made a mistake and shouldn't have said that."

Better to be safe than sorry.

Hi, jumping into the pool here! OK, that email? That's the same autoreply support has been sending out for at least a year. I've gotten that one myself. I have seen a different version - since the T&C was "updated". I've never heard that person mentioned either, so she may be new. Either way, there seems to be a lack of instruction/communication between the people making up the rules and the people who are supposed to be helping us follow those rules.

This phrase in particular

Quote:
So just alternate between accounts each day you use the freebies. You may switch items between accounts once in a while, just do not turn your second account into an account that gains
NeoPoints for your main account. You may also play games for NeoPoints, use the Healing Springs and get omelettes on the other accounts as long as you keep them in that account

I think is wrong, wrong, wrong. All the dailies say ONE account per person, not feel free to switch accounts per person. The not turning your second account into an account that gains for main? Don't send any np from any other account to your main, ever. That's what I've been told.

Also, with the new Rules, playing games on other accounts, along with restocking, buying stock, scratchcards, using the soup kitchen and what I was told - entering the BC, site/pet/gallery spotlites are not allowed on a seconday account. You can use the healing springs on all your accounts.

You can have shops on other accounts, use the tp, auctions. But don't use 2 accounts for bidding on auctions. That can get you frozen...I've seen it...people put something on auction on one account, bid on another to get np/item for that other account. You're better off putting something cheap in your second account for too much np and buying it from your main account or setting up a trade on your second account and bidding on your main account to send np/items if they're needed. (Just my experience and observation)

Support doesn't seem to have a concrete answer for any of us...different people are getting different answers to the same question. I do not point a finger at Support, I don't think they're being told exactly what the T&C means either. I know I sure don't understand the multiple accounts rule entirely -- it's just too vague.

Morningstar, I have never gotten a response when I wrote back to support with specific questions that weren't answered in the first email. It's like pulling teeth to get a straight answer or any answer at all, besides the usual autoreply or someone personally replying saying "I think" and "it should be ok"...that's not good enough. Ending up getting frozen for something someone in Support says is ok to do and then not getting your account back would be the absolute pits!
