This happened to me in a slightly different form. I used to have a Glass Shoyru, way back when neggs were 200np, I had saved and bought the PB, painted him, was very excited to be actually getting somewhere. Then, no less than a month later, they RANDOMLY changed all the glass pets into TYRANNIAN ones. How is that even similiar? I wanted the glass one because it was like...diamond or ice, really shiny and fab. Not a blimin skanky caveman.

I was very much an angry person.

Yeah.. I have lived through every revamp of the zafara yet and have lasted - but I fear for what may happen to my Christmas Zafara if they revamp the species again. @.@

And I'm currently saving up for painting my Draik Royalboy.. something like that, if it gets revamped horribly, will kill me. XP.

I think the old version of a pet should stay the same, as long as someone owns one or if it is put in the pound but if you create one using the "create a neopet" you would get the new version. That way people could keep the pet's they fell in love with.

And if anyone wanted an old version of a particular pet they didn't have, they would have to wait until one came into the pound.

"ugh"

The jubjub is supposed to be cute. The name is cute, I mean its a fluffball with feet and eyes! I liked the old jubjub better. Normal and in all its different painted forms. Now,it looks like they stretched his eyes and gelled his hair. :(

But what if you like the Revamp and already have the species that was revamped?

And what if, say, a year down the road there is another revamp? 3 different images for the same pet? Then there is the possibility that they completely change the species for some reason. I don't think 5 images of a single pet (and that's just for one color) are really that necessary.

I think they're trying to "butch" it up... since their demographics say more girls are playing than guys, they want to attract more guys in. Or whatever. So they go around and say "well, people who aren't playing yet want..."

I liked the old jubjub. It fits the name better. the new one looks like a McDonal French Fry kid on steroids. :o

I agree they could've left the old color sheme and character on an updated model. All that'd need to change is the expression and colors, really - the new 'hair' for example is far better.

And yeah, sometimes these updates aren't very well thought out, sacrificing character for art quality. And those orange spots, ugh.

However, I do think it's great they're doing more with some colors than they used to. Striped, split, cloud, speckled and more such colors are really pretty lame as they are, but the cloud jubjub makes it from a silly flat recolor into an entirely new mythical creature of sorts, and the others look pretty nice on for example the new Kois.

They should add an "update" button for existing pets. When they update one, pounded pets are automatically revamped, as when you create a new one, but someone who owns one have a button to press (maybe in the quick ref page) to revamp his. He can decide to keep him as it is at least for a while, time for him to get used to the new look. When he decide to go, he can't come back but it won't be such a choc for those who loved an old color and suddently lose it in a redraw.

But of course, I don't think they can do that, they can't let older pets coexist with revamped ones.

Oh my goodness that's soooooo traumatic to think about!

Like I said if you wanted to keep the old one you could, if you wanted the new version then you would have to create one.

I don't think three different versions is bad, it would certainly add more variety to the site (which could be a good thing) but once you get into four or five or any kind of species changes then that would just be ridiculous. They don't need to change the species, they just need to add different species to their already great collection.
Which is why I like Neopets, they have well drawn pets and their graphics are well done unlike some of the knock off sites.

I also like your idea Moihaha , that would be a better plan.

So if I wanted my favorite Zafara (because I know TNT will do it one day...), whom I spent NP on coloring and improving, to reflect the updated style of her color, I'd have to abandon her and start over from scratch? o_O

I'm more in favor of moihaha's idea.

Yeah, I read moihaha's idea after I typed up my post, in of which I added at the bottom that their idea would work better.

:D

And that's why they revamp the older pets and won't keep their older style around just for the few people that like the old ones better.

Actually, what I meant by that is, I like how neopets pets are more streamlined and smooth. A lot of the pet's on other sites are drawn in that Yu-Gi-Oh fashion and I don't like that. :D

Edited to add: I don't think the YU-Gi-Oh style is bad, I just don't particularly like it.

the old jubjub looked horendous, Im glad they revamped it. The old one looked like a big "0" effort was put into it
edit: I see where you guys are coming from though, I think a better idea would be voting between like 3 revamps and a fourth option of no revamp
