People who don't play shouldn't be counted as participants. If Neopets is giving even minimal prizes to people with a total of 0-0-0 records, then that's kind of messed up. Plus, counting them out and stating that fact will prevent players from going at each other's throats and from trying to get less active players to join or move onto other teams instead of theirs.
Hmmm..I think if you supported the right team from the start you should still get some sort of prize
If you mean, by "support", that the person actually plays the game, then I agree. Otherwise, let's look at a small example:
Suppose there are only two teams, Team A and Team B. Team A has four participants. Team B has two participants. They play one round against one another. Two players from Team A post 30-0-0 records, while the other two players from Team A don't play at all and post records of 0-0-0. Both players from Team B post 30-0-0 records.
Now, who should we say won the round? Should the two players on Team A be punished because the other two players on Team A did not do anything?
It should also be noted that it takes a minimum 90 minutes of playing to get a 30-0-0 record (since each game is at least 3 minutes long). It takes zero minutes to get a 0-0-0 record. Can someone who spent no time on the game really be considered a "participant"?
