"The greatest...site": Egotistical or Exactly?

To be honest, most self-describing sentences are built that way: PPT is the ULTIMATE neopets resource, [IDNQ] contains EVERYTHING you need to beat neoquest, while IDB refuses to describe itself.

The main purpose of those things is to serve as an abstract representing the site. Lack of a "we're the best, honest!" means that you either (a) are proffesional (odd for sites that don't deal with the real world) or (b) think your own site sucks (in which case, why should your visitors bother?).

How do you know they will? Have I missed something?

There's a Coming Soon page, but none of the stuff he mentioned is there.

they are flaws in those things, or they are just too simple, there are little things to do with them, its all about the looks right now

The truth it, while other sites might be better in one area, nothing compares to Neo as a whole. It might not be a proven fact, but I am yet to see a site that comes close to rivaling neo as "The greatest virtual pets site on the internet"

It's hard to beat Neopets because of the fact they had a big head start over the competision. I think they are the site that made Virtual Pet sites as big as it is today. Neopets has so many games that you can play and not only that but each game gives you a Neopoint reward. You know there has to be well over 400 games on neopets sponsered and non-sponsered. It's got everything that's important. The only thing it really needs is a clothing system and then I think it would have everything. I've played a lot of virtual pet site and they are only worth going to for about a couple months at max. I'm glad I was one of the first to be on Neopets.

hmm..... I think it's just a basic advertisting statement really... like the ones on TV that goes "produces the best shine!" or tells you their their food biggest/juicest....I don't think ego is invloved really...
