Thanks for sharing, patjade. I'm going to give that a shot. =) I already use adblock and stuff, but no harm in covering the rest of my computer. ^^

You can still block them. Go to your Adblock options and look for 'overlay flash'. Choose that and you'll be able to click the ad to block it.
Thank you! I'd tried to use that before, but I'd been right-clicking, not left-clicking, which I realized after taking a second look at the menu. Apparantly, I can't read.

I haven't been on Neo all day, so I haven't gotten it yet.

If you can, on the page where you get the annoying/inappropriat/pop-up ad, try to right click on the page, view source and get all the ad information you can. That I was told helps when you're reporting an ad.

Wait, if TNT is asking us to report on 'bad' Ads, does that mean that they don't know what ads they're hosting?

They have to know about that add. There is a pop up on the "Shop of Offers" page for the same thing. The pop up is just as annoying as the music because blockers won't block it. At least mine won't. And yes it is a neo ad not an adware on my computer.

My theory is they know which
companies they rent the space to, but they don't actually review every ad that appears on the site. This is probably impossible to do for some of the Google ads, for example, which are customized for each user depending on their interests. They may have filters set to prevent "bad" stuff from popping up, and perhaps keep their eyes peeled for inappropriate material, but other than that, I doubt they really care what their site is advertising.

I'm on the bf's computer and this is the first I've had to deal with this particular ad. It only took 4 pages for me to come take a peep at this post I noticed earlier but ignored...I definently reported it...the more complainers the merrier is my motto. Even if I don't see it at home theres no reason other people should suffer for a lack of complaint.

Pfft. So it's alright for some kid to see an advert about something obscene or at least inappropriate that TNT won't even handle, but if one of us posts something just vaguely vulgar then it's BOOM! The land of freeze for us. Yeah, that sounds good. That sounds VERY good...

Perhaps if you quote her WHOLE sentence instead of taking it out of context you will see that she said " They may have filters set to prevent "bad" stuff from popping up, and perhaps keep their eyes peeled for inappropriate material...".
I have seen very very few if any inappropriate ads (of course I don't make habit of paying attention to them), which to me says they do have some sort of filtering process, just like the do for the neoboards. And just like when something gets past the filters on the boards/mail/etc either they see it and remove it or someone reports it and it is removed. I see no difference whatsoever.
I certaintly do NOT believe for a moment that they ignore inappropriate advertizing or reports thereof.

Neopets uses multiple 3rd-party advertising suppliers which pay them a good percentage of the profits each of the ads make.
Advertisers usually pay on a CPM (cost per thousand) view or click rate. I'm assuming the 3rd-party suppliers give Neopets pretty good control over the advertisments displayed since they are a pretty huge client.

I remember there being a porn ad once. It was taken down pretty quickly after people started to notice it.
On the topic of ads, I remember a while ago someone said that blocking the ads is against the rules at Neo because it gives you an advantage over other users. Did that rule change or was it just a rumor that you couldn't?

Don't buy into stupid rumors like that; TNT would have no way to inforce that rule even if they wanted to.
