It would appear that Stodder's constellation finder no longer works, as the account has been suspended... I suspect due to bandwidth exceedence.
The constellation finders keep going down. free hosts allow limitted bandwidth... I do wish the moderators would keep the header post up to date.
Atrus has put up another iteration of the constellation finder
http://hacks.atrus.org/neopets/findConstellations.fcgithis url has been posted at least 1/2 dozen times... in the last 24 hours.
yea but the thing is i had 5gigs of abndwith an di was only upto 500 megs when mine went down, i have a feeling that neopets is just sending out messages to servers that i had it on telling them abou tit or somehting. anyways if anyboidy wants my code i can send it to them. ive still got 3 constellaitons left to find. hopeuflly someone else could host it a bit better then i coudl lol
Could it be "OMG, peaking bandwidth!" or CPU usage, perhaps? My script is host on a VPS, where I have plenty of resources allocated to me, so I'm not worried about getting shut down due to load; the server will just get sluggish with over 1000 hits per minute, I think. I'm confident in the effeciency of my code, so I'm not terribly interested in yours :p Right now I'm getting about 5-8 hits per minute.
The spare time I have to poke at this stuff is mostly going into a script that mines constellations from sets of star coordinates. The initial version started with about 35,000 hits for me to look at. It's now down to 500, and I think the next improvement will get it down to a number I'll actually want to look at. This is a clique problem, but the graph is pretty small, especially after trimming.
