What's wrong with wiccan or witchcraft?
It is a religious belief like any other. I'm atheist and have no interest in christianity or wiccan, but I find it offensive and bigotrous to consider this religion a bad influence on kids, any more so than christianity is a bad influence.
What about the christian elements of neopets? The whole christmas thing, etc? If no one is offended by that, and not complaining that Neopets is trying to subvert your children into becoming wicked christians, then in all fairness there is no reason to become all afluster over the magical elements of Neopets subverting children into becoming pagans, or witches, or what have you.
Clearly, the majority of Neopets players and of the western world is christian. But that doesn't mean their beliefs should be held to be more important than less-popular religions.
As for the wiccan guilds - no, they are not appropriate. But if so, then neither are all the little crosses and 'salvation, price: faith' I keep seeing in user shops. If Neopets cracks down on occult-ness on the site, then it should do so for all other religions equally.
I'm sorry I've got into a rant here. To sum it up, I guess I wanted to say, "If Neopets is occult, SO WHAT? At the moment it's mainly christian-ish, and notably you don't see the other religions complaining about the corruption of their children."

The one thing that really bugs me is they say these stories manipulates children, but doesn't religion do the same thing? I mean, the only reason they think witchcraft is bad is because their religion says it is.
You can't really protect anyone from hearing or seeing something that may change the way they perceive the world. Religion shaped their perception of the world after all.
And, the way they used a few words to paint neopets as demonic is disturbing. There's a petpet named Anubis, so neopets is obvious evil? That is manipulative.

Oh, you mean my post above?
No worries, I'm not taking a FSS for my soul, it's probably one of those duplicated items left from last year. I'm not falling for that scam again. Took TNT two weeks to get me my soul back last time.
Soul's worth at least 10 mill NP plus some uber unbuyables.

Oh no, just Rune's post, cause I had my two cents but Ill keep them to myself :P
I also thought your post was amusing actually. I was going to make a comment about how your soul is worth a lot, even if the items are scammed. :( I never did quite get my soul back. They ended up giving me the wrong one, and when I tried to attach it back to me, it disappeared. You think I should contact the glitch department about that?

To quote The Doctor (of Doctor Who fame) - "File under 'imagination-comma-lack of'".
This person needs a hobby. Or a tinfoil hat. Paranoia is a sad thing.

Ok, so I went to that site. On first reading, I did get annoyed, then I just had to shake my head.
Neopets is evil and is indoctrinating children into the occult? hmm, I don't think so. Yes there is magic, it's called play, using your imagination.
Of course, I went looking around and found Yu-Gi-Oh, bionicle, Scooby Doo, Sailor Moon, the Matrix, LoTR and yes, even Narnia and C.S. Lewis. The list seems endless. Even the Dali Lama doesn't escape.
If some people choose to follow a narrow view of the world, whatever their view is, then that's fine for them. I guess I'm more of a live and let live kind of person. I would never presume to foist my beliefs on anyone else, and I have actually ended a friendship because the other person was determined to make me "see the light" and follow their faith.

It's always amusing to find a website where someone tries to convince you of something completely outrageous, but uses thirteen exclamation marks in place of a question mark, and doesn't use an apostrophe correctly until the fourth paragraph.

Why don't they make their own virtual pet site? Hell, everyone else is. Then they could have a nice christian pet site they can witness to each other about and I might be able to restock a ham sandwich once in a while.
I can see the sidebar now:
---
Holypets
---
Let the LORD Create a holypet (and it was GOOD!)
---
Pet Central
---
Explore the Bible
---
Pray with your pet
---
Give alms
---
Group prayer
---
(The Good) News!
---
Holy Stuff
---
Help (me jesus!)
---
Login
---
Logout
The only problem is... I think it would be too hard to do it and still have it maintain a sense of humor. Hmm. I wonder if there would be any money in making a site like that? Hardcore christianity is pretty popular in the US right now. Throw in a little patriotism and I bet you could make a killing.

Word, that's hysterical. I would totally play that just for the amusement value.

There has been something that has always made me think (and it is related) why do people who think Lord of the Rings is evil think the Chronicles of Narnia are just fine. Do they not have similar content, themes, and fantasy storylines? I have read both series extensively and am still puzzled.
