I grew up with Gene Wilder's interpretation. Enough said.

So... how about that chocolate?

They're BOTH amazing in their own (very different) ways, how 'bout that? :)

Although Depp is quite a bit hotter. :D

And as for the chocolate world... ugh. How pointless.

I'll take the Gene Wilder version. Something about the part where boat ride goes wild with him singing that song and flashes of pictures of chickens being decapitated scared the living hell out of me as a kid.

(sung)
There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going.
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing.

Is it rain-ing, is it snow-ing?
Is a hurricane a-blowing?

(spoken)
Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing.
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing?
Is the grisly reaper mowing?!?!

(shouted)
Yes, the danger must be growing!
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing!

Stop the boat!!!!!

I can't believe you had to ask this question. I mean, I love Gene Wilder as much as the next girl, but Johnny... *sigh* <3

UGH! I can't believe you said that! I suppose it's a female thing. The thought of Johnny Depp playing Willy Wonka made me cringe. I don't know, perhaps I would have liked the way he played the role better if Tim Burton hadn't directed the film. Tim Burton just inherently makes every thing dark. I half expected Wonka to reach out and hurt one of the kids most of the time. Gene Wilder all the way.

That's the point. <3 Nothing like revamping a nice little movie and twisting it a bit. Johnny please!.

But it wasn't really a revamp. The Johnny Depp version is actually a lot closer to the original book than the Gene Wilder version.
Tim Burton didn't make it dark, it was already dark. The Gene version was "kiddy-fied" so it would be more popular

Hmmm... But I don't remember the HIDEOUS Tim Burton Ending in the book. I liked the book when I was a kid, but I do prefer the film staring Wilder. It is not important to stick close to the source material if it makes the film less entertaining.

And Depp looked very unattractive in the film... Unless you fancy people who look like Michael Jackson...

Gawd, I don't think I could take another snackfood world. Jelly world, various edible pets, both unappetizing and not, and a certain marshmallowy hoax is enough to give me cavities just thinking about it as it is.

A Chocolate World wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but I think there are other things on the site that need work before they start in with creating even more semi-pointless things like that.

Some places do need more work. I'd like to see more activities on Kreludor first. But something chocolatey wouldn't be unwelcome in my book, I suppose.

I think a chocolate world would be interesting, but maybe for a later date. They need to update Jelly World and fix Kreludor first...TNT needs to slow down with the new things and just work on everything they already had. They're getting in over their heads. o.O

I'm Grubs, by the way, and this is my first ever forum post. xD

Hello and welcome! :D

As for me, I prefer Tim Burton's version. I like the Oompa-Loompahs better. The horrid orange and green pumpkin things in the Gene Wilder version gave me nightmares.

I also wish that TNT would 'extend' some of their new worlds. Honestly I think they would be more interesting if there were more to do. I really don't visit any of the new worlds unless they have some sort of 'daily', like the Giant Jelly in Jelly Land or Deadly Dice on Roo Island.

Welcome, Grubs. :D You're from the right place.

Who knows. I really don't know, but it could be possible. Maybe it's neighbors to Jelly World.

:roflol: I loved them both. But that's just what the picture reminded me of. I was thinking it would sert of be like jelly world but that doesn't really exist right??? *goes to get more free jelly*

As much as I love chocolate, and cookies, the idea of edible pets and worlds is just not very appealing to me, I don't really want a pet that makes me want to eat it!
And I agree with the others that said they should improve on other parts before they start making new mini-worlds.

(And of course, Johnny can not make a bad movie.)
