It does seem way too easy. and the worm might not eat the first and last pages, so it's very marginally less, but we don't get the number of pages per book. i just submitted the simple one

i made a suptid mistake and did the correct thing for book 1 but not for number 5 so i got 2 less than 3E2

It is kind of a trick question.
I like the picture of the books all lined up on the shelf, it helped to visualize the problem.
On semi-related note, I spent an entire semester of elective in high school, working in the library.

I would have preferred to see it as first page on Volume 5 to last page on Volume 1. That would have tripped a few people up

lol I submitted the correct answer 8 minutes before it was released. I hope I get the gold trophy! Is gold 1 - 49, silve 50 - 99 and bronze 100 - 250 ?????

Look as I might, I cannot spot anything unusual with the picture. Except only for the one pixel line between the third and fourth volume while all others were two.

Because when you close a book and put it on a shelf, the first page is to the right of the spine, not the left. Same with the last page. So the worm didn't have to eat through theentire first and last book, just the covers.
I didn't get mine in in enough time to get the cookie.
