Lol, yeah half of all those people I refered are have not activated their codes yet.
If you really try and get your message out there, you can get like 500k - 1 mill in a matter of weeks.

You're fortunate to even have people click the link. The people that vistit my site can't even be bothered to sign the guestbook, let alone sign up for Neopets.

Last year before christmas when that LJ meme of posting your wishlist in your journal went around, I posted in both my journals [LJ and GJ] that the only thing I wanted for christmas from my online friends, was for those who didn't already have a neopets account to create one and activate it. That way, I'd get a paintbrush for christmas.
I think about 12 people signed up, and as this was before they revamped the prizes, I received a brown paint brush well in time for the holidays.
After that, I put the link in my signature on laundromatic.net and said I'd send everyone who signed up and PM'ed me afterwards something nice [postcard, some candy from my country, etc] since we have a lot of referral links going around laundro [mostly those free iPod ones but street teams and other stuff too] and it's common courtesy on there to offer a little something in thanks. I got about 10 from that in the past year, and some of them have really taken to neopets and play daily now! As it turned out, none of them ever PM'ed me with their address for me to send them something either.
Not a lot, by all means, but I also haven't really tried very hard.

Lucky it was activated before it froze. More then a 3rd of the people I have referred forgot to activate the code.

Because of this thread, I realised I was one referral away from all my pets gaining a level, so I asked somebody from a message board to sign up and they did

I need 3 more people, to activate their codes inorder for me to get the SUPER RARE item. But I'm like stuck at 72!
Still alot of people help me but hardly any of them actually activate the code.

1 person gets 75 referals=75 People
They get 75=5,625
They get 75=421,875
They get 75=31,640,625
They get 75=2,373,046,875
They get 75=177,978,515,625
There are just over 6,000,000,000 people on earth, many don't own a computer and many will never play neopets. After only a few tiers, it becomes imposibble without extra "cheating" accounts.

heh, yeah it'd be nice if that math worked out
Still a nice way to make neopoints if you can, and if you have Premium, the referral prizes are 100x times better but it's that much harder to get someone to sign up
