Ok, let me get this straight – your site is called samizdat (secret literature) and your shop is potlatch (social occasions given by a host to establish or uphold his status position in society).

You do not care about how NEO is conducting its business, you have delusions of grandeur.

You believe your cause is just and to prove it you get a little rebellious with TNT by sending them a nmail telling them how bad they are.

You then reject their world and make your own; you continue the delusion by holding yourself up as the “Leader” of the new establishment. In potlatch you give away gifts to show goodwill, but it also keeps your social status.

You use the idea of giving away gifts but you keep control by using these people to reward yourself. While you “stay off the grid” you feel empowered, you are controlling all aspects of your world.

While you condemn TNT for its scruples, you have shown a lack of them all together. You do not like the ideals behind the richer Neopians so you deceive the poor into thinking they cannot compete in such world. You tell them not to even try – don’t restock – don’t make a profit – don’t play games to make money only for fun. Of course people are going to be poor if you tell them that.

Your website has scared me. You have become what you are raging against, and you don’t even see it.

*As a side note, your siggy says "This space for rent". Isn't that materialistic. I mean aren't you against making a profit*

Hmmmm.... You brought up some.... interesting points. At first I thought this was a joke until I kept reading the thread. Maybe your message was misunderstood but here is how I read it:

I chose to enjoy Neopets as it is. A game. Period. I've been a member for over 3 years and during those three years I've succeeded at building my account up to a hefty amount. Do I feel guilty that I made np's the way I do through auctions, shop sales, trades, Neodaq, games etc....No. Because it's a GAME. Also, remember that Neopets Inc. is a business and as such they have to earn money to support all the players that play this "free" website. No, I don't like the banners and no I don't care for some of the sponser games but I can chose to not support those entities myself.

As to the idea that younger players don't have the same opportunities as older players, I have 4 kids that ranged from 16 years down to 8 years when they first started playing. Over the 3 - 4 years that they've been members of neopets, they've managed to save millions of nps themselves. This site has helped them see the lessons that I as a parent am trying to teach them - the importance of hard work to EARN what they want. You seem to be preaching that it's OK to let the government or society (i.e Neopets) take care of you if you're poor. No need to work hard because that's what they're there to do. Sorry, that's not the lesson I want my children to learn. They've learned that they have to save money in their bank account to earn interest. They need to have a decent shop to entice people to buy from them. They need to polish their skills in the games to be able to earn points. What's so bad about that? o_O As a parent, I moniter, guide, teach and trust them in their decisions. That's MY job. Not anybody else's.

I'm sorry you feel betrayed but remember in the end it is JUST a game and it's each individual persons responsibility to themselves to earn things.

Actually none of us has the numbers on wealth on Neopets. How many Neopoints can the average ordinary Neopian (not us!) realistically make or save up? Remember just because you can do it, doesn't mean everybody can. We are all outliers and we lie well to the right part of the wealth distribution. For most Neopians (not us), making 100,000NP is a big stretch and may be impossible. The reason I know this is that there are not very many purple, brown, or golden pets or white grarrls, fire grarrls, or strawberry tuskaninnies. The brushes and potions needed for those colors and morphings come in at between 90,000NP and 110,000NP. They are also readily available. Clearly if there were more Neopians who could earn 90-110,000NP these items would go up in price or be very scarce. You would also see these items put to use. Also if the wealth distribution were more even (everyone could save up and buy X.) you would see a lot more furnished Neohomes instead of Neohomes with empty rooms.

Hmm. Maybe there are no purple and gold pets because they're ugly. And I have a brown ixi that I deliberately painted. So thanks for being completely and entirely innacurate. I have a friend, tomcatwailing, who I'm sure you can see hasn't been playing all that long. He has a ghost lupe, ghost whoot, mutant faellie, mutant kougra, and a petpetpet. He's never won a jackpot, he's played games. I don't want to hear it's not possible for everyone to earn 100k, because that's a blatant lie. It's possible for anyone to do.

Would you like to hear a little about myself? I'm your polar opposite. I'm a registered Republican, donate to http://www.protestwarrior.com, and believe that it's a hell of alot easier to succeed in Neopia than it is in the real world. If you can't make it in Neopia, go stand in a bread line.

I don't think this is the place to be posting links to political websites to be honest. Or for accusing people of lying when they are just putting forward a theory.

I do think as well though that there are less of those plain coloured pets though simply through lack of demand. I own brown and christmas pets on side accounts but they aren't very popular. And if you can save up to that amount of money then why not save further to get an even better paint brush? I started out in neopets for the first few months making practically no neopoints. It didn't bother me that I couldn't paint my pets splendiferous colours because I did without. And once I got more in to the game I was able to save a lot of money - and that was through only playing games, nothing else on my itty bitty net connection back then. And for all those on bad connections still - it is easy to make a lot of money through games and the stockmarket with minimal effort :) I can see though that it would be impossible for very young players to make much money but there isn't really any fool-proof way that can be resolved except from having their parents help them out of coursee ^^

The other thing is that this forum does represent a large range of wealth in Neopia. There are people here who save for months to paint their pets while for others it takes a few days. Everyone enjoys the site just as much - if we didn't this forum would be empty of complaints! Why complain about something you don't care about after all.

I do think inflation is hugely out of control in items like pbs where the supply is non-flexible. But at the same time if I want a pb enough then I will work hard for it, if someone just handed me all the things I wanted on neopets for nothing I'd have to quit the game for lack of things to do. And I do think neo is excellent at teaching people the value of money.

I'm not sure why some people have reacted so angrily to your posts given that you are just stating what you are doing and why, but I hope you continue to have fun playing the game in your new way. It was certainly interesting to read but it's not a game strategy I'll be taking up.

Oh, no. I'm not reacting angrily to her opinion. Like I said in my very first post; If it works for you, more power to you! People save, people spend, difference is what makes the world go 'round. What I reply in anger to is the notion that people who WILL not (and not "can not") earn their own items/np/paint brushes should be handed the items, or else no one should try to attain them at all. And you're absolutely right; no one should post political viewpoints/websites here, unless they're in the debaters group. It just horrifies me that someone should come across one website without having access to the other. And vice versa.

I'll have to disagree with that, really.. they're just not that nice of colours, that's why no one has them. It's not even that hard to make neopoints on neopets. Just play games, especially ones with a lot of refreshes. On a new account random events will really help you out, usually.

Then again, I've been playing for 5 years now, and until just recently, I haven't made any NP at all, really. All my painted pets were from the Fountain Faerie years ago, when you could sign up with sponsers to get tickets to colour the pets. (which is why most of my pets aren't that remarkable in colour). Mostly everything I've gotten so far has been free.

Then recently, I decided I wanted the lab map. I started working hard and within three weeks had the NP. And two days later, I had saved up for the petpet map.

I just recently got my first 100k np bank account, and I'm now seeing the real fun in earning NP and doing good at the game.

It's not that hard to earn neopoints at all in this game, you just have to find what you're good at. Anyone can do it, really.

But in any case, I do admire that you've found your own way to play the game and are willing to see if anyone else will play that way as well. To each their own, right? ^_^

On top of this the general tone of the thread was becoming inflamitory whether it was meant to be or not. Shall I quote the rules again? Ok!
