The least they could do is put filters on it! Its not fair to people who get frozen for inappropriate names, and yet they're putting this rubbish in!

lol Is it horrible that I burst out laughing when I saw that screenshot?

"Gonads" is not rubbish; it's a scientific term! And funny! ;)

I don't think this is a huge deal. All of these words are either scientific terms or could have another meaning (a muff is a furry thing you put your hands in to keep them warm in winter; shag can be carpet, queer means odd, etc.). I wish people would stop being so scared of inoffensive words. I do agree that a lot of them don't belong on the neoboards (because people will misuse them there), but they're not hurting anyone in this game.

All of the words posted really aren't too bad, just not exactly the kind of words you say every day. I think we really only need to worry if someone gets the "f" word or something like that.

Cranberry, I certainly am not "scared" of inoffensive words. I'm just a little concerned about the hypocrisy. If a player uses some of these words, such as gay, on the Neoboards, that person is either warned or frozen. I believe in consistency, whether it be on a game site or as a parent. And the word being used in Typing Terror isn't "shag", it's "shagging". Used as a verb, its meaning is quite different.

Update: TNT seems to have updated the Typing Terror game. The dictionary seems to have been updated also. I just played about 6 times, and most of the questionable words are gone. The game d/l size is also different than it was this morning.

I don't think it's hypocrisy. If the words appear in this game or in a plot comic or story, they're not being misused -- in the plots it's always clear what they mean, and in the game we can assume they're retaining their scientific/dictionary meaning. They're blocked on the neoboards because people use them incorrectly in an attempt to offend others. I don't see any problem with TNT using them but not letting the immature neoboarders do so.

heh - if you take a look at my screeny... I just took a second glimpse at it and its kinda funny seeing a robot with GONADS typed across it... haha

I got Dam-ers. It made me laugh so hard I lost the game. >.>

Yeah, I noticed some of those words, and I was going, "How appropriate is that?" They're not bad, but for Neopets, and all the "standards" they have, they're certainly questionable...

Look at it this way. In class, for example, generally students are not allowed to swear. Yet students also study literature like Catcher in the Rye, which if you've read it, you'll know has swearing in it.

Now, I'm not saying Typing Terror = Catcher in the Rye, but did you all go, "OMG, Holden Caulfield swears and we can't!!11"? (We did talk about that's why the book got banned though, but I digress.)

When we studied catcher in the rye we were allowed to say whatever he said... and even more...

i got pricks and vibrator... :roflol:

I got the word "Kinky" and a couple which were just random jibberish.

I just got the word "Acidheads" when I went up against the Clockwork Grundo Boss. Now being a child of the 60s, I'm all too familiar with that term. I'm assuming the meaning is still the same? Or has the word evolved into another meaning?? :o

I agree 100% When in a game the words can't be misused, on the neoboards they can and because of the minority of users that do misuse them the rest of us aren't allowed to use them either. Really it's those players that are to blame for that, not tnt.

This game is class and I really hope people stop complaining or else they'll have to change it. It's a game with a sense of humour, I hope neopets don't change it :(

Anyone can add any word to the dictionary, so Neo didn't put the words in there, the users did.
