Heehee, I persuaded myself x) Now I have premium and I've been playing with the spiffy portal all day :D

I dunno if it's really worth the money but with the UK exchange rate, lack of ads (much faster loading times than with adblock like I had previously) the extra REs and all the rest, well it's great fun and I felt like treating myself =) After all for a year it's about the same as two pc games would cost and I play neopets way more than I play my other games. Thanks for all the helpful advice people gave here by the way xD

*is happy* :D

I, too, finally signed up for premium. However, I don't have access to the portal, I didn't get the initial 2500 np, the ads still show up on Neopets, and when I got a Something has happened email, I couldn't collect it. I wrote tech support and they said that I wouldn't get any of that until after my trial period. Is this right? It doesn't seem it would be.

Hmm, I have my portal, the nps, no ads and the SHH's but I did set up my paypal payments already so maybe that's why? Maybe that bypasses the trial period if you pay already, I'm not sure.

Seems a bit off to give you a free trial where you can't actually try out any of the stuff though

I used my credit card, so they technically could charge me. I wish they would, if that's the only way I could start using the stuff. :/

Edit: Well how about that, I just went and checked again, and I now have access to the portal! I checked right before I made my initial post, and since I signed up Friday, I've been checking all weekend and there was nothing. Well, I'm happy now. :) Yay!

I admit Premium rather confuses me a bit as well. But its cool so I don't care. :p

By the way, if anyone wants a referral, you can PM me as well. :)

Krazy, things were, well, crazy  most of the weekend. Lots of glitches. But the staff is really working overtime to try to get things fixed as they find problems. Kudos to them!

Still have 7 invites for anyone who's serious about joining.

I may have money in a pay pal account, but I want to know more info first before I sign up. The dial-up service may conflict with our current service, and if it will I'll have to talk with my parents. If it is a good deal I may be able to convence my dad which is stuck on his service to pay part of the fees if I contribute. He's been nagging me to help pay for the internet service.

Could you perhaps send me the detailed info and fine print that happens to be blocked by the "we're sorry there are no more opening slots" page?

i have a handful of premium referrals, if anyone's interested - and if you have any questions about premium, most definately neomail me... i've been premium since december and it's been... an inlightening and interesting ride. very fun. (: i was afraid of them ripping me off somehow, but they've billed like grown-ups. i do heart paypal.

i'm pretty sure you still get the 15-day free trial if you're referred, too... and it's fun to be able to at least try it out.

I have premium membership, but isn't it a problem to actually find people who are willing to pay money and sign up??

I'm not paying for Neopets... but I can say one thing:

Good job TNT, you may have just caused massive PB deflation.

Heh, I guess it will depend on which paintbrushes are given out - does it specify anywhere?

It would be neat if you all got tyrannian/faerie type ones but what if it's just purple paint brushes? If the prizes are given out today though I guess we'll find out soon :)

Butterfly, more than likely if you went with the web ISP package it and your current ISP would "fight", I think that would be true of most? Not savvy on this stuff.

Even though the referral IS for the $15.99 web package with ISP, you can, after being invited/signing up, go and downgrade to the regular Portal pack, which is $7.99 U.S.

That is the Portal, which you can customize to show/not show neo news, rl news, neo weather, rl weather, has an auctions module - if you auction things it can be a help, has a calendar that you can put reminders in, things like that. Also has an email - @ neomail.com. I only use that for other premium members, but it is nice especially for things like lookup codes, etc. since we can't send any of that on the boards or neomail. And the premium board along with no ads.

You can, with the portal package also set up an "alias". This for me is great, I have my old gallery/now pet storage account as my alias. I only use it for the premium board and the no ads, but that makes it more worth it to me. People can use the portal with their alias, I just don't!

Again, whether to want premium or not is an individual decision. You're spending real life money for this. It will not help you get unfrozen faster and if you are frozen it doesn't just cancel Premium -- you will be paying for it unless you cancel; there is no marshmallow world (that was some silly prank someone pulled); we don't get any special parts of the site, special pets ....

We get a space faerie sc every Friday, 1k np once a month, various random SHH (usually a "lottery" win - not alot) and what is really nice is if there is a problem, like this past weekend with all the referral glitches, someone from staff posted a few times to let us know what was going on as best they could. That is appreciated!
