I was told I was saying profanity for posting "=)" in an n-mail. O_o

HOW is that a bad word...wait, it's not even a word. Maybe it was just acting up at the moment, but geez, I spent 8 min typing and editing my n-mail till it finally letted it through.

Their filter is really weird.

otherwise they might think you sent the mob to set someone straight. who knows with the filterbot.

But according to Taika this worked.

Once on my guild we were discussing the Blues. I Couldn’t post the name of one of my favorite players, John Lee Hooker, got blocked everytime.
Oh, well, the filter has a reason to be, but it could be a a bit smarter.

The filter is terribly dumb. I got a message stopped by it once and I couldn't for the life of me work out what it was that was wrong. I ended up writing the same thing in such a round about manner that the person who got it must have thought I was incredibly dumb...or that English was not a language I was well versed in :/

Methinks the filter is as smart as the freeze bots and lawyer bot!

I've had trouble with it before...I have to remmeber to spell check what I write now, 'cause misspeled words can trigger it. (HEY! It's fighting the newbies bad spelling! XD) oddly though, it no longer lets me write sniggered, I HAVE to spell it snigered. >_> (You'll have to look at the two words for a moment to get it)

At the very least, it should tell you what phrase or word is blocked like every other cheap filter out there.

When "least it's" is removed a three letter word between them disappears ;)

The filters are odd anyhow, it once told me "p" was a bad word O.o

It gets so annoying to have to decipher your own unoffensive writing -seems they've gone just a wee bit too far with the words. Then again it's not their fault there are so many idiots that think neopets is a great place to talk about body parts and swear.

I think this is the same problem as the filter has with phrases like "someone's hit points"... my guess is that the problem words were in the phrase, "At least it's not". The filter ignores spaces, and often for good reason, but in trade off it also filters very confusing things if you're not expecting it.

I can see where in the phrase it would find something vulgar, but that's still way too far-fetched by human standards.

I wish you didn't have retype the whole message, stupid filter, sometimes I spend ages typing it out, only to get an error. In neomail, too, when you forget to add the username, silliness. It can't be that hard to make a decent filter, right?

Well, I typed in 5 secs, and guess what the filter thought it was? o_O

At least it wasn't... no, wait, can't post that. Imagine someone telling someone else to go somewhere at a few seconds past a certain time.

One time the filter kept rejecting my post when it contained the name of one of my pets, the name isn't even bad. :P I eventually had to say "my lupe" because she was a lupe at the time.

I don't see why they can't just get their lazy butts up and moderate neomail themselves instead of having an automated thing do it >_<

The filters pick the weirdest things up in neomail, on the boards and even in guild boards.

I once was having a really great chat with some guildmates and had to step away, so I typed, "I'll be back in a bit, ok?" and got the big profanity page. I did finally figure out what they thought I was trying to type, but I did have to sit and stare at it for a few minutes. Then I was like What?! it was the word bit followed by the , and ok. Apparently the filters thought I was trying to say an evil word.

And I've had problems replying to a neomail, just clicking reply which has the original message as a "quote". This one really confounds me. If there's something wrong with the original message, how did it go through?
