Yeah, I hope it is just some kind of new coding or something, but why do it at all? Wasn't it fine before? If it wasn't centered perfectly, I never noticed.

Unfortunately, no one in the Neopets corporate office seems to be getting that. Because the ads are irritating the players. When the ads start making it hard to play the game, people will quit out of sheer frustration. And, the number of pageviews and members will go down. Guaranteed.

So, Neopets needs to figure out a way to generate needed revenue without using ads that take such a long time to load and/or attach their cookies to our computers--both of which slow the computer down so much that it is no longer fun to play the game.

I agree. It just looks realigned. There is no mysterious whiter (if that's even a word) space for ads. It just looks like it because its been centered. You guys should take a deep breath and look at it again. That being said, I'm going to bed. *yawns*

I don't know. There seems to be an AWFULLY BIG SPACE on the right.

It does look different to me *squints* Hopefully it's just to make it look like there is more space rather than anything else.

Sigh. I shall continue to use firefox and block ads regardless. The very fact that neopets promised there would be no ads and now there are loads is enough to put me off from clicking. Added to that the fact that they don't seem to bother screening their ads and if it wasn't for me using firefox I'd be getting a whole load of junk on my laptop if I did click.

That number of ads does 2 things: it puts off original players and makes them angry, and it puts off any new players. And it isn't just the inconvenience.

The other day neo thought it was my birthday on my main account and I got the birthday sidebar. Now running adblock does make the site run faster than putting up with the ads but when you get the birthday sidebar there are no ads, nothing to block, just like old times.

The site was absolutely flying, I couldn't believe how fast it was going. And then I remembered it used to always be like that :/

Yes, I hope they just centered everything and resized things to make the site faster. But that is still kind of defeating the purpose because the adds are what makes the site slow to begin with. I know if the site lags it is almost always an add trying to load and it is loading slowly.

I wouldn't even mind the ads so much if they weren't all Flash ads. When you've got three different scripts running on every single page, it's going to slow down even a fast computer a little bit. And it's going to slow down a slower or older computer (like mine) a lot. I'm sure if the company wanted to they could make the filesize a little smaller. They just don't care. I wish Neopets would find a better ad company, if they really need those ads so much. Start advertising some things we players might actually care about.

Don't worry, I have a feeling that if neopets makes a movie it is all downhill from there. Because I just don't see how it is going to be cool. It's one thing to play the game in the privacy of a home but another to actually admit you have a clue what neopets is by going to see the movie. I just hope they don't sing and run through feilds of daisys with rainbows in the sky too much. I can only tolerate so much happy sappyness.

I don't like the ads either, but sometimes clicking on them is inevetable. When on firefox at college or safari, the page always refreshed on the neoboards so the cursor was right over the aD. I would try to click the white space to type my message, but suddenly I end up clicking the ad, because the page bounced a milosecond later. Something would pop-up. I closed it, but too late. I hate that type of extortion.

I've managed to block most of them with a CSS download, but the page still bounces that way if an ad breaks through the filter.

That was a scary thought ...if I ever get to see that movie, I don't want to have to sit there for 2 hours hearing Neopets sing ...

I really hope we don't get any more adds piled on the site . . . I don't think my computer can take it. My screen has actually frozen up a few times because an add has trouble loading. However, I really don't mind as it keeps Neo free, right? They need to get some more child-centered adds though, some have been quite adult in content.

And if they really want me to buy their plushies and such,
A) Sell them in other places besides Limited Too and Claries, and
B) Make the popular plushies. Lots of people like Shyrous, Draiks, Lupes and Cybunnies, but few like Purple-and-Orange-Spotted Chias and Chombies XP Ick. No offense to Chomby lovers.

I also wish they'd finish the current pet revamps before they start on something big like the war, new pets, or a movie. At this rate, the Kacheeks will NEVER be done. Not to mention the Bulmaroo, Eyrie, and the ugly seal are simply dying for a revamp It seems they've forgotten that Neopets is about the PETS, not their crappy stickers and trading cards.

That's exactly what I thought as well... Maybe TNT will FINALLY allow us to have 5 pets? *yeah, well I can dream, can't I?*

this may or may not be related, but i was putting up a banner on my lookup in the place of the lookup banner, and the code i had for banners (from csshelp the kougra) was 100 pixels off... have the banners shifted over too?

I really hope they aren't going to put even more ads on the site, 3 on every page is already more than enough. I can't believe that in under a year they've gone from having one small ad in the side bar to having a huge gigantic banner across the top of the screen and a huge ad at the bottom of every page. If I hadn't been able to block the ads I would've quit the site by now just because of how long it took to load each page. If they ever make ads that I can't block then I'm outta there, no matter how much I love the site.
