Grrr.. Another one.

Those scammers should really learn to quit. It's plain stupid to this stuff. No point at all.

A problem with Morningstar's plan - this would keep you and your husband from both selling the same item. That would not be fair for multisibling households. I can hear it now. "Mom! Sherri is selling her A Mysterious Valentines Card so I cannot sell mine!" *fighting ensues*

Raising the max in people's shops would not be that hard. Also, a check box that makes an item a gallery instead of for sell would be excellent. Anything over 100,000 would automatically go to gallery item until the shop owner changes it so that no uber item gets sold during the switchover.

ALSO I would love to see a trading post option that fufrills a minimum met option. You know, like for example 250K for this item, 300K =auto. Actyually MAKING 300K an automatic accept.

Maybe that is wishful thinking.

Actually, that already happened about a year ago when my daughter and I both saw a really cheap codestone in the auctions. We were both playing at the same time (both computers are near each other in the same room) and neither of us knew that the other was trying to bid on the same thing. She bid first and then when I bid a few seconds later, I got a message telling me that more than I couldn't bid on it from multiple accounts. She got the codestone, I didn't. Oh, well. Life goes on.

Personally, I really don't see my proposed solution as a problem with multisibling households whatsoever. We don't really fight about nps in our family. My husband is really not going to be up in arms if I decide to put a baby PB on the TP before he has a chance to. Same with my daughter.

First, what are the chances that someone in the same household is going to have the exact same thing put for trade at the exact same time? Second, if that is the case, I am sure that siblings/spouses/family members could come to an agreement that both Mysterious Valentine Cards be placed on the same account and the proceeds from the sale be given to the appropriate family member.

I think it's a small price to pay to keep scammers at bay.

I've always thought a great option in the trading post would be an auto accept function. Of course, the only problem is the people who submit the trade with the wrong price. Baby Paint Brush ... 57000 auto. ooopps.

Also, congrats Morningstar. Glad you are anti-scamming on the hubrid nox badge! Great work!

Ooh yes, both of those ideas would be great =) Another way to do it would be to have a seperate shop and gallery though I don't know how that would work out with increasing shop/gallery size etc. But it would be nice to have the option of having both a shop on your main account as well as a gallery without people getting lost in your shop trying to find what's buyable.

There are so many unbuyable items nowadays though that I'm surprised the limit hasn't been raised already. Surely it would take next to no time to implement and they could just bump all items set at greater than or equal to 100,000 up to the new limit. Or letting us set it simply as a gallery item and non-buyable. And that trading post idea would be a dream =)

Heh, I hope it's not wishful thinking :)

I think that it a great idea. Because the 100,000 limit hasn't really kept up with the inflationary times. Back when Neo was first started, 100,000 was an ungodly sum of nps. Now it is really not that big of a deal, when you think about it. And many, many things cost way more than that.

But, my guess is that it could be quite a logistical problem. And, if not handled correctly, a big nasty disaster. Neo has a multitude of accounts with items priced at 100,000--how do you pick out just those items that are priced at 100,000 or more and fix them so that they can't be purchased?

I just remember the nightmares that occurred last summer when the shops were moved to a new database. Many people lost every item in their shop--particularly the big shops. My husband's lupe gallery was lost for awhile. It was finally returned but several items were missing. Luckily, they didn't cost too much to replace. But, it could have much worse if he had lost his lupe digest, worth several millions. Jas's husband's account was also lost at that time and I don't even know if he ever got it back. And many other members of PPT lost their shops for months and lots of those people got some of their shops back--but not all. And, that's just the people I knew. It was quite a fiasco and simply covered up by TNT. Never addressed publicly. Never an apology to those who lost millions. No type of compensation whatsoever.

Personally, I don't want my 700+ item gallery messed with by TNT. I have items in there that cost millions and could not be replaced.

So, it is a great idea on paper, but in reality, I just have to shake my head and wonder.

They have updated and will continue to update the shops systems. There is the same amount of risk with those as well. *hopes for no glitches*

Morningstar's multiplayer problem is on a smaller scale compared to where I like to play. As many of you know, I like to hang out at an internet cafe, and apparently all the computers in the place run through one 'master' that provides internet access to all. That means every person in there is technically on the same computer! Awhile ago, all people who visit there was frozen on neopets. I now use my laptop exclusively for neopets but use the faster (and visually better) computers int eh cafe for everythign else.

Now he's doing it with magenta Neopets mugs. Check out the TP. Different account names but same mode of operation. Rarity 101 item. One account saying worth X million. Other account willing to pay X million for it for its gallery.

Too bad I don't have one around.

EDIT: I just sent a neomail to warn the person from whom he had bought a Hubrid Nox Badge two days ago. She was the one who had alerted me to the scam in the first place and we have been communicating about it ever since. She sends me this reply:

LOL,..get this. Yesterday i was refreshing my trades on the post. Guess who i got a neomail from,..yep. He wrote " will u trade me ur pirate kacheek mp for a Magenta Neopets Mug? mug is worth way over 3mil on tp" I wrote him back saying that he was the same person who inflated the badges and i dont accept JUNK on my lots, and if he knew what was good for him he wouldnt write me again or i would report him. (which i should have done anyways)

So, people be careful. This guy is slimy.

Hmmm. It might not be againt the rules, but I think it is an uber-nasty way of making NP.

yeah it is very nasty but you cannot deny it as a tactical approach on the business point of view. It is a good way and so far i doubt TNT have said anything about this... Have they?

I seem to remember reading a thread or two on PPT about people who had gotten frozen for artificially inflating the price of items. Happened a while back. Anyone else here remember that?

EDIT: Here are the threads I was talking about: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=185708&highlight=artificial+inflation#185708

http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1525&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=artificial+inflation&start=0

There may not be anything in writing about whether or not this is against the rules. But, my guess is that artificially inflating an item to almost 100 times the prior price, by buying up all of those available, is probably against the unwritten rules. And, there are many, many unwritten rules on Neopets, as we all know.

It could easily be put under the category of "attempting to gain an unfair advantage over other players." And, the TOC specifically states that you are not allowed to use your "other accounts" to gain an unfair advantage over others. Which this person clearly did by putting the item up for trade on two different accounts for X million in order to make the item appear more valuable than it is.

Even if is not a single person, but a group (like the Secret Milklionaires Guild) who work together to inflate prices ... it is still and unfair advantage. The person's user lookup says that siblings share a computer. Them working together in such a fashion could still potentially get them iced :( :) :( :) :(
