The first panel of the plot reminds me of Destiny Islands at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts.
And Caylis is so awesome looking.
Also, the last panel of the second page ("The Aisha had defied King Kelpbeard's strict order to never mix with the surface dwelling folk.") reminds me a lot of The Little Mermaid.

I love this. The art is so so so pretty. I really hope they just take their time and do this plot right. The sea aishas are really cool.

I really hope they'll place the plot a bit on Pirates of the caribbean, The Black Pawkeet is ship's name, was Black Pearl in PotC, one of the pirates looks like Jack Sparrow and .... cool

I read the first page and thought, oh my! they're ripping off the little mermaid! then I started to sing that under the sea song. then I read the rest of the comic and decided that they weren't really ripping off the little mermaid after all, and I like it. The artwork is really great. those little sea aishas look much less annoying than hannah.

In my opinion, this is one of the best first chapters TNT has ever done. The art is lovely.

This first comic is pretty good, although I would have liked to see more of Garin (he's pretty cute )
The fact that it was five whole pages surprised me. HatIC had only three pages at the most per chapter.
Isca reminded me of a character in a book by Robin Jarvis, "Thomas". Zenna the sea maiden, a mouse-esque mermaid creature who fell in love with a fieldmouse named Woodget (who could be compared to Garin).

Wow! Such a long story piece for the first episide. I am impressed.
