I used to try and put a little warning on my trades to let those goobers know I wouldn't fall for it. I stopped when after posting 'All New Member offering omelettes will be strapped to the Wheel of Monotony', I was inundated with offers of omelettes and neomails asking (jokingly I hope!) for me to strap them to the wheel O.o

It would be nice if bidding a 1np item on a 100k np item was reportable :D

I know. :) It should at least bring a temporary trading ban for a week or two. ;)

I think there is a type of player who make junk offers with the hopes that you accidentally press accept instead of reject. It DOES happen. It's called Spooging or Phishing.

Then put it in the shops, it has no right to be in a TRADING post if they are not willing to trade with it.

I keep a lot of not-too-expensive items on display in my shop that were gifts from friends, or just things I really like...
And then I get people Neomailing me to tell me my items are overpriced.
When I explain to them about galleries and that items priced over 100k can't be bought anyway, they tell me I'm stupid and that having gallery items will discourage people from buying my other items.
When I explain that that doesn't really bother me, as I don't usually sell much stuff anyway, they go back to whining about how rude and selfish it is of me to have things on display that other people might need.
When I explain to them how to use the shop wiz and that all the items in my shop are buyable and easy to find for sell in other people's shops, they start telling me they don't have time to use the shop wiz.

Yea, I'm a bit too patient.

...They don't have time to use the shop wiz, but they have enough time to bug you about it?

Neopian logic astounds me sometimes. And not in a good way.

well, I dont know about you guys but I like to do something called "observation"
every now and then I have the urge of buying expensive items, so I go and browse the trading post. I browse for a variety of trades and I "observe" the user account that has the item, meaning I see their shops and pets. I dont bid junk but I usually bid less than half of the price. Of course, 95% of them get rejected. But I have gotten several items out of those trades and made a bit of profit. My favorite one was when I got my fyora rocking chair for 20k :D

Most of the time they are just hoping you are a fool and want to cheat you of your np/items. Amazingly such tactics do work sometimes. However, it is not anyone's fault but yours if you accept an offer which was not worth it.

Its so annoying especially if you have clearly stated in your wish list what you want to trade for. I usually just ignore the trades, but then you get the begging neomails asking you to "PLS PLS ACEPT MI TRADE iM SOOO POOR!" grrrrr :x

If I recall correctly, the main reason people do that is that they want you to accidenly click the accept instead of the reject. Its best to just let those offersr rot.

To me, the Trading Post has become really annoying. Whenever I put any item up, I always get flooded with New Member neomails and junk offers... And hardly anyone actually has a serious offer for the item :x
I don't use the Trading Post any more.

I generally put a comment in my wishlist about the fact that I will ignore and leave to rot any junk offers. Sometimes you get the odd few junk offers (which I assume are probably to annoy more than anything else) but I've found I probably get less doing that.

As most people have said though, I believe many people do it in hopes that you'll accidentally hit the accept button. Either that or pure stupidity.

I always make sure I read the pop-up alert that you get when accepting or rejecting a Trade to double-check that I have clicked the correct button.

I like to bid junk, but only when they ask for it (putting things like 1np or first bid) It's their own fault for being like that. And I actually had someone accept one once. I neomailed them figuring it was a mistake, but they never answered, so...

I do agree that when you actually put a request, like 200k or blah blah item, it's just annoying that people like to bid 2k... or just plain junk. Bleh. But generally I just reject them as they come. What really annoys me are the neomails I get trying to convince me just how valuable an oak wish stick is

I throw a split paint brush and got all the junk. Then I try to throw a split paint brush plushie and got nothing. Hey, those people who bid junk are wide awake!

I once put a Baby Paint Brush up for trade with description, "Send me your best offer!"

Big, big, big mistake. Within minutes, I was getting five or six offers a minute, and almost all of them were junk. I remember one person offered 789 Neopoints, 2/3 Carrot and Pea Omlette, and a plushie (a cheap one, maybe Blue Lupe?) and kept sending neomails, "r u going to accept my trade? plz thats like all i have at nepets rite now." Needless to say, that thing came off of the trades within a few hours and I offered it on someone else's trade instead, lol.
