I certainly hope not that does not happen on my next birthday. (Which interesting enough is on May 5th 05.) Let's just hope TNT make sure the events of 04/04/04 dont ever happen again. (Included making sure that doesn't occur again on 05/05/05)

I wasn't here for the 4/4/04 event, but I really hope it doesn't happen on 5/5/05... That would be scary!

If it is, I think its rather intentional, because the date is 444, and 444 if pronounced in japanese sounds like death so...
O.o Jumpin lizards. Sounds kind of like one of those predictions of the end of the world and it has some kind of involvment with superstitious numbers.

Yeah, it wasn't just the big names - basically all anyone had to do was look up good items on the TP, say "I want that" and go get it.
Did anyone get frozen for stealing stuff that day?
Unfortunately, when 4/04/04 happened, I was locked out of my account due to having forgotten the password, and pass retrieval not working. I was offline when the glitch happened, and do you know, not one person thought to get my pass for me
It would have been a godsend if i'd been online :/

I think TNT had to have some sort of policy conserning that day. I was actually online, trying to grab paint brushes and other rare items off of the money tree, for some reason, I don't know why I though it was okay to stand in the open like that. Rumour has it that someone got into Adam's account and donated a Royal Paint Brush, I dunno if its true or not. Yeah, I was online and whatnot, completely unaware..... I heard that Adam posted on the Battledome Board, half of the people there didn't believe him

The way it worked is that the "send my password" button would give a line of code and after the first code bracket was the user's password... Extremely simple to take advantage of... The safest you could have been is if your password was like <embed username=optional> or something like that... to blend in with the code
It was good and bad at the exact same time... I got back a few of my old accounts that i had forgotten the pass to... If it happened again I'd probably get accounts with awesome names that no one has accessed forever (like my name, and random words) ... Just like 8 months ago when TNT erased alot of the accts from 5 years ago I got the acct Mypets with a bunch of awesome pet names and i get neomails from random people

Nobody will like this, but I'm going to have to do one of my signature rants:
I know that this event was bad, but I really hate when people compare this to 9-11. At the old NNN, everyone made a joke about it, and it really angered me. Sure, half the world says we deserved 9-11, but it was still a horrible tradgety and comparing it to a mere internet site (those who know me know that referring to neopets as 'just a site' is not at all like me) and saying that it was was 'just as bad' or 'worse' is very wrong, in my opinion.

Nobody compared it to 9/11 I don't think...

Tonu, I agree. I have looked through it twice and no one compared it--ever--to 9/11.
bdd1, just because numbers were being used as the date, doesn't mean it was being compared to 9/11. And, I don't think it was anyone's intention to compare it to 9/11. And, this isn't NNN.

I realize that this isn't NNN, which is why I wanted to extinguish the problem before it happened. I wanted it to sound more like a warning then scolding, but it didn't come out that way. x.x

It's okay! But sometimes people (like me) don't like to be warned for things like this because they feel like they're being punished for a crime they havn't committed...

I just wanted to prevent anything like that from happening, I didn't mean anything personal by it. Besides, I clearly warned you that it was one of my rants that nobody likes!
